Zen is the worst at this so I will focus on Zen koans here. The purpose of a koan is not to have deep meaning and wisdom. The purpose is to be nonsensical, and for you to focus on meaninglessness until you empty your mind of meaning. That is its stated goal, and it is demonic.

What people did before joining the Church is irrelevant. I'm getting kinda sick of the obsession in much of this forum with denouncing people's former positions.
It's okay to see the logos spermaticos in Buddhism. The devil had to mix some truth into it in order to deceive. There is a kernel of wisdom in teaching people that they must let go of earthly things; that is the bait on the hook which was meant to make you want to destroy yourself and effectively, make you want hell which is what the Buddhist version of enlightenment in practice is. So while appreciating the honey, we utterly reject the demonic poison.
Postmodern paganism is a whole different thing. Unlike ancient paganism, the society has fallen further, has known and rejected Christ, and has been so indoctrinated with Jewish morals that it will happily swallow poison without honey, even calling the bitterness sweet. The devil walks around openly for all to see him as he is, and the people love him.
