Bishop Leontius of Chicago serves a panikhida with Roman Catholic bishops.

It seems like the source conflated Archbishop Seraphim of Chicago with Archbishop Leonty of Chile. The person in the photo seems to be Archbishop Seraphim.

Is he the one wearing glasses, looking down at the prayer book from which he is reading ?

Who is that to his left, then ? Looks like wearing a panagia, so must be a bishop.

Any idea when this took place ?

Saint John of San Francisco concelebrated with and communed New Calendarists from the Greek Archdiocese. He did this all the way up until his death.

I won't mention Fr. Seraphim Rose because this site seems to be 50/50 on whether or not he was a saint.

My point being that the ROCOR wasn't as walled off from World Orthodoxy as some people claim.

ROCOR is ran by humans. There are going to be mistakes made. St. John famously created a group that went into schism.

Ngl but alotta of "Here is a picture so now let me (Some guy in 2010 who randomly found the picture) make up what happened here and write text below this to fit some kind of narrative" with no real sourcing nor citations. In fairness in 1925 thing, Thomas made the good point that during the 1910s to 1920s there had been a number of Bishiops who thought Anglicanism was perhaps Orthodox as they didnt encounter them often and used terminolgy and phrases that sounded Orthodox (Albeit after a time they had found they were not Orthodox) so thought it was plausible they could have been Orthodox or Orthodox with minor errs. Even so he isn't vested and not taking part in it but rather lining up before the ceremony just for observation (Mind you Archbishop Anastasius the year before called the EP out on concerning things with the 1923 Council and around 1930 Metropolitan Antony was calling Meletius and a few Bishop a "Heretical Gang"). I had talked to a ROCANA Priest on the Photo, along with some site which told what actually happened tho I dont have it right, of Saint Philaret with the Cardinal and the whole text attached to it is made up assertions as in actuality what happened was simply Saint Philaret receiving an Icon and small relic of Saint Victor from a Cardinal, no joint prayers or anything happened. Same thing with Bishop Leonty/Seraphim where he was an observer to the Vatican Council, no Pannikhida was served nor do Roman Papists do those either.

I dont believe ROCA to be, on the offset, some hardline Synod holding to some sort of Graceless Position but they certainly were not Ecumenical and they did wane away and severed from New Calendarists starting in the mid 1930s until a couple decades later tho yes there was very minor things that had the strange occurence of an Anglican in the Altar (Albeit, it was his Church and Vitaly only rented out his Parish) which was later rectified.

From what I can tell, the ROCOR was never in communion with the state church in Romania, until their union with the MP in 2007. They were in communion with GOARCH until 1967, at which point Archbishop Iakovos of America's name was dropped from the diptychs. It's difficult to say if the ROCOR ever broke communion with the Antiochians, because Bishop Leonty mentioned being in communion with an Antiochian bishop in Chile in the 1960s before breaking communion with him which means that the ROCOR synod as a whole considered it normal to concelebrate with the Antiochians at that time.

What I would like to know is whether the synod in North America, specifically Metropolitan Philaret of New York at ROCOR HQ in New York, commemorated any World Orthodox hierarchs during the liturgy (such as the Patriarch of Serbia or Jerusalem). Or if the JP was only commemorated at ROCOR parishes in the Holy Land. And the SP at the ROCOR missions in Serbia.
