Pardon me if this has been discussed before...
In preparation for, God willing, pilgrimages to monasteries, I'd like to know how to address the Abbots, Abbesses, Monks and Nuns with due honor and respect.
Russian and Greek titles please. Thank you.

Waldemar, welcome to the forum. Here is a link with all the answers you desire: http://www.euphrosynoscafe.com/forum/vi ... .php?t=364
Basically monks are "Father" and nuns are "Mother" if they are wearing a cross (Abbesses and Abbots in both Russian & Greek traditions wear one, I believe) you may ask them for a blessing, by saying, "Father Bless" or "Mother Bless". In Greek tradition, not all priests wear crosses so it is hard to know if they are a priest, deacon, reader, etc., when not vested. I hope this helps clear things up. ![]()
