It is the ROCOR critique of this False Council:
Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.
However, if this council is not called off, then the EP will force his heretical agenda on the entire world, and the New Calendarists will threaten those who do not agree with excommunication.
The EP cannot "force" anything upon the entire world. The word heresy is derived from the Greek hairesis ‘choice’. Everyone is endowed with freewill, and may choose to resist his heretical agenda and flee from his communion. Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew is an apostate and heretic, anathema, cut-off from the Church. Therefore, Bartholomew and the New Calendarists have no power to excommunicate anyone!
Some don't seem to understand, Bartholomew is a lawless hierarch and has no power to convene any Orthodox council, let alone a so-called "Holy and Great" and "Pan-Orthodox" Council.
Yes, I saw that Rocor-MP statement. It seems they are afraid to really speak their true minds about this.
They have to resort to hints and mild statements and employ terms of tolerance and compromise rather than shout out
what they are sure to privately think. Ha ! I typed "shot" instead of "shout". I guess that threat from the MP overseers and other associated elements sums up WHY the Rocor-MP Synod speaks so tentatively compared with one imagines most of the older clergy really feel. By older I mean those seasoned clergy who were 'raised' by Metropolitans Philaret and Vitaly and trained thoroughly to firmly reject such shades of ecumenism as permeate the entire Council and setup.
As a side note, it seems to me almost a marketing campaign on the part of the EP to bring all the other World Orthodox jurisdictions ' on board ' with the EP's outlook. One can't help employing corporate terminology, as the whole endeavor feels like a business situation rather than a spiritual one !
Thank you, Hieromonk Irineos, for that welcome update.
Cyprian,
You know more than I do by far. I think we have to look at the precedent of the wooing of the UOC-KP, Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Kiev Patriarchate by shady customers like George Soros as was discussed last December in Photinia's thread. That was very disconcerting to learn what was going on. Taking advantage of the UOC-KP's fervent wish for recognition, Soros and probably a group of similar types, apparently held out the carrot of recognition by the EP
IF the UOC-KP leaders would soften their attitude toward those horrific subjects which are being pushed everywhere around the world by the same evil elite.
From this model, one can deduce that the EP's Council is similarly supported and perhaps guided behind the scenes by these same dark forces. Those forces as we know seek to liberalize the Orthodox Churches stance on the unmentionable social questions of our day. I see that this must be a big part of the EP's Council. Naturally, it will not be advertised in advance but just presented as footnotes which no one would have time to read. But which would be rubber-stamped by all the participants, much to the gloating of the Soros crowd.
I agree that Patriarch Bartholomew has no authority to convene this Council. He is usurping this role. Notice how even the mainstream media is covering it - mildly. If it didn't serve the interests of the power elites, the Council would NEVER be mentioned before, during or after its convening !
I am concerned about the shadowy forces hiding behind Pat Bartholomew, rather than about him. He is just a front figure, I would guess - what do you think with your expertise ??
