Positive steps to stay healthy

The resting place of threads that were very valid in 2004, but not so much in 2024. Basically this is a giant historical archive.

Interesting. Aspirin comes from the herb Willow. Perhaps that has this same element as well, then ?
Thanks for the research on nattokinese.

Unfortunately, I am severely allergic atopic and I react to salicylates.
This means I cannot eat members of the melon family: such as pumpkins, squash, Persian melons, cantaloupes and cucumbers.
I am also allergic to most fruits, including tomatoes, and all legumes, including soy.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

What does "allergic ATOPIC" mean, Maria ?

I am sorry to hear you miss out on many healthy things.

Would the allergy to pumpkins include their seeds [ recommended above on this thread ] ?

Allergic Atopic means that I am a universal reactor, being allergic to salicylates, drugs, foods, pollens, dander, molds, and mites.

Avoid Statins

Post by Maria »

From an email I received from Dr. Mark Stengler at http://www.healthrevelations.com/

How cholesterol drugs can wreck your immune system

It doesn't take a long.

You pop a statin, and the pain kicks in -- the notorious muscle ache that, in some cases, is so severe that it's practically crippling.

It's like taking the opposite of a painkiller! [ ...]

Taking these pain-inducing pills wreaks havoc on your immune system, increasing your risk of infection. Whether it's an everyday illness or a life-threatening bacterial infection, being on statins will make you more prone to them -- and when they do strike, they'll hit you harder than a sack of bricks.

In the new study, seniors taking statins didn't respond as well to the flu shot. After vaccination, their levels of antibodies were cut by as much as two-thirds.

That alone is not a big deal. But if statins can shut down the immune response to the flu shot, it's almost certain the drugs will diminish your immune response to everything else, too.

The drugs appear to reduce inflammation, and not in a good way. They can block the inflammation your immune system relies on to fight infection.

Of course, the statins are working just as they were designed to -- lowering your LDL cholesterol levels dramatically. But contrary to what mainstream medicine says (which has dubbed it "bad" cholesterol), you actually need LDL for proper immune system function.

Along with making you more prone to infections, low LDL can even increase your risk of cancer!

So to boost your infection protection in winter or any other time of year, don't ask your doc for a flu shot. Ask instead about getting off your statins. Odds are, you don't need them anyway. [...]

Instead of getting stuck by an ineffective shot and crippling your immune system with drugs, try giving your natural defenses a boost. [...]

God bless,

Dr. Mark Stengler

Re: Avoid Statins

I was wondering what on earth are 'statins'. They sound to my ears like something manufactured by Satan ... !

Then at the end of the letter, it becomes clearer. I firmly believe that the chloresterol-phobia is nothing but a mass hoax.

The trick would be to stop eating pork products which are so toxic and difficult for the system to digest, and loaded with lard, or bad fats which could overwhelm the bloodstream.

However, eating natural butter, especially organic butter, won't have any serious negative impact on most people.
This is all a fake campaign. I remember when it started. People took it SO seriously that they eagerly ate margarine rather than butter, and trimmed out so many probably good fats from their diet.
It goes to show that any fad manufactured by the medical industry should be brushed off without a second thought by all but a tiny percentage of the North American population.

Same with salt. It's actually really good for one. But people are so terrified of salt that non-salt, low-salt, etc lines have been rushed out to the market to satisfy this widespread fear.

As discussed elsewhere in this Forum, either Himalayan Salt, like Matthew mentioned, or Hawaiian lava black or red salt from volcanoes, loaded with healthy and rare minerals will vastly help one. Again, nearly all. A few people with particular ailments would have to reduce or avoid salt intake.

Never believe anything that "the masses" are thinking or doing ! In the field of health or any other.

Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver DIsease (NAFLD)

Post by Maria »

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/artic ... sease.aspx

Points covered in the article:

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) affects up to 25 percent of Americans, including children.

Code: Select all

If you have NAFLD, the first step for treatment should be to limit your fructose consumption to under 15 grams per day (including fruits).

Fructose is, in many ways, very similar to alcohol in the damage that it can do to your body… and your liver.

Eating right and exercising can often prevent this condition and may even reverse it in its early stages[/quote]

Research has shown that limiting the intake of fructose and 30 minutes of exercising or 150 minutes of exercising per week may reverse this disease in its early phases.

Often people do not even know that they have NAFLD. Signs include fatigue, increase in liver enzymes, pre-diabetes, diabetes, jaundice, swelling in the legs and abdomen, mental confusion, and pain in the liver area.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

Dietary Guidelines Reverse Recommendations on Cholesterol

Post by Maria »

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/artic ... terol.aspx

Points from this article:

Limitations for cholesterol will likely be removed from the 2015 edition of Dietary Guidelines for Americans; overconsumption of dietary cholesterol is now cited as being of no concern.

Code: Select all

A recent review of studies investigating the link between dietary fat and causes of death concluded that recommendations to reduce the amount of fat we eat every day should never have been made.

When fat was removed from processed foods, sugar was added in. This has led to a massive increase in obesity, diabetes, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, even among children.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.
