Hindu is back "in" with new-style celebrities

Post by Barbara »

The new super-cool people of this generation are the hi-tech wizards - or front people for other forces operating behind the scenes.
Note the congruence with the dreadful 'beatles' - beetles - going to their own ashrams of choice in India back in the 60s. Somehow the trend got recycled :

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/as ... story.html

".... the mystery is why this modest ashram would attract such a steady stream of American tech visionaries. Along with Jobs and Zuckerberg, Google’s Larry Page and Jeffrey Skoll, co-founder of eBay, have also made the pilgrimage.

“Everybody in the world wants to go and see this place,” said Larry Brilliant, a doctor who once lived at the ashram and later became head of Google’s philanthropy division....
Devotees say much of Kainchi’s appeal is connected to its spiritual founder, Neem Karoli Baba. The sadhu, or holy man, came to the hills from a nearby state and lived in a cave for a time — a spot preserved at the ashram and lighted by candles — before the first temple was built in 1964.

A small person wrapped in a large plaid shawl, Neem Karoli Baba normally sat on an elevated cot as followers meditated around him, offering a few kind words, a laugh and occasionally throwing fruit.
He exuded goodness, according to devotee Craig Mather, 64, a business analyst from Wales. When he first saw the holy man in 1973, he said, “It was like seeing the sun — dressed in a blanket.”

My commentary :

HUH ??!~~ what a weird description.

Imagine the difference of how pilgrims described Elder Amvrosy or Elder Joseph or any of the Optina Elders. They may also have looked 'shabby'. But there the similarity ends. True sages of God, they would have answered SPECIFIC QUESTIONS to provide the best guidance possible on earth for their disciples. They would not have tossed lychee berries into the audience at random like this imposter does ! Then, the words of the Elder would have shown up to be TRUE - perhaps years later the disciple would see WHY he or she had been told such a thing.

This harmless crank is nothing to write home about. Let alone attract the megastars of today....but that is the symptom of this time and place : empty shallowness masquerading as "spirituality".

Amen, Barbara. The Optina Elders were truly blessed men...
