Greatest Enemy of Press Freedom

New York Times reporter James Risen called the Obama administration “the greatest enemy of press freedom that we have encountered in at least a generation” on Friday, explaining that the White House seeks to control the flow of information and those that refuse to play along “will be punished.”

U.S. to relinquish remaining control over the Internet

U.S. officials announced plans Friday to relinquish federal government control over the administration of the Internet, a move that pleased international critics but alarmed some business leaders and others who rely on the smooth functioning of the Web.

Pressure to let go of the final vestiges of U.S. authority over the system of Web addresses and domain names that organize the Internet has been building for more than a decade and was supercharged by the backlash last year to revelations about National Security Agency surveillance.

The Chinese or the Russians?

China would apparently like to shut down the Internet to freedom of expression.
We would have to pass around our cell phones if that happened.
E Cafe might be history, unless Anastasios could start his own Internet..

This is confusing, indeed.
Hopefully, some happy solution will be reached to accommodate TRUE freedom of
expression via the Internet.
Not the one right now with all these invasive things looking over one's shoulder at
anything they write, it seems. I refer to the creepy b - o. T 's.
