Beware: Elder Sophrony of Essex

Post by Archimandrit Nilos »

No, these pseudo-saints were ecumenists clear like water in the full sense of the word, blind blind-leaders ! This is the truth ! Sophrony Sacharov of Essex (with his monastery of women and men at the same place !) was with the heretic Parisian jurisdiction of Evloghios (Georgiewsky) and in intimate connection with Sergius Boulgakov, this heresiarch, of the so called "Parisian School" of Saint Sergius, a laboratory of innumerable heresies like Sophiology etc. All these pseudo-saints are worthy of the so called Ecumenical Patriarchate at Istambul.

Good point about Fr Sophrony, Fr Nilos. Not all of them were anti-ecumenist. I suppose, like the MP and the New Martyrs, they hope to muddy the waters by canonizing figures on both sides.

I agree with your statement totally. This the work of this fallen so called "World Orthodoxy" under the leadership of Istambul and Moscow.

Thank you, Archimandrite. I KNEW when I read Maria's post that this Fr. Sophrony Sakharov was suspicious. But I could not remember the
precise history. Your explanation reminded me.

I didn't know about the dual monastery. Where was that, in Essex, England ? I have a very vague notion of why this
Fr Sophrony was there to begin with.

Yes, this is the double-monastery in Essex where he was living many years. Sophrony was also a Sergianiste. The so called Moscow Patriarchate under Sergius and his successors was for him a "martyr church".

Terrible ! He is even LESS of a candidate for glorification than it seems, then.

Do you have any links about his life from our perspective by any chance ?
I never read about him but saw a book about him somewhere. Not in a Traditional Orthodox Church bookstore, that's for sure.

It is the very famous monastery of Saint John the Forerunner in Maldon. The practice of double monasteries was abandoned quite early in the orthodox church to prevent problems and scandals. A thing I find strange in this monastery is the liturgical cycle with long periods dedicated to the prayer of the heart... According to me, such prayer is normally individual and really depends on the spiritual status of the person.
