Canadian Province Might Ban Religious Symbols

The province of Quebec in Canada is moving forward with a ban on any public workers (teachers, police officers, government workers, etc) being allowed to wear any outward religious symbols. The proposed law is apparently being popularly received by the majority of Quebecers.

The so-called charter of Quebec values, to be unveiled in the coming weeks, proposes barring public servants from wearing veils, kippas, turbans and even crucifixes [crosses] while at work. A leaked report last week said the measures would apply to anyone who draws their salary from the public purse: bureaucrats, lawyers, police officers, teachers, and even doctor and nurses.

Actually, it's not received well by the majority. That census was directed towards mainly French Quebecors who support separation. That's why the percentage is so high. If you poll 2/3 French and 1/3 non-French, then of course the poll will seem as if it's positive. I don't doubt that they manipulated the results. It's ridiculous! They can't get away with this.

This entire law is because Muslim women are wearing niqabs or burkas, which are no different from balaclavas. They hide the identity of the wearer and this should not be permitted.

If you ban religious dress, how does that make them less stealthy? Surely blending in is a more stealthy approach? I would think the women in Burkas are the least likely to be terrorists of some kind, since they do not hide their convictions, I would think they are just honest Muslims. I can't see a woman in a Burka infiltrating the humanities department of the local university, if you get my drift.

I want to be free to hide my identity if I think it's in my interest. I don't like the idea of clothing regulations, reminds me of North Korea, where there are only 28 state approved hairstyles. It seems very fascist to me, like maybe we should just get it over with and issue identity papers and armbands right now. I'll take the one with the P! Not letting people wear symbols is the same as making them wear symbols. The only difference is that everyone ends up with the same symbol, nothing at all.

Or maybe I don't understand what you mean, what exactly is stealth Jihad? I don't think I've heard that term before.

Seems more like stealth tyranny under cover of religion/rights/security discord, spin and fear. Otherwise it would only apply to symbols that obscure identity, surely? Not all symbols.

I don't think the colonial authorities are trying to save us from a religious conflict, I think they are fomenting one. I don't mean to complicate things, and I'm not just being contrary, I really think the security/identity angle is being used to justify a ban on authentic traditions while flooding us with Illuminati symbology. It's almost like a general iconoclasm to make way for this blasphemy to take over.

I think all religious people in the west should stand in solidarity for the right to express our faith however we want.

I just remembered a story about this: Over 15 years ago I knew a convert priest with the Serb church who worked for Centrelink, the Government welfare department, or dole office, as it's better known. He had an icon of the Theotokos on his desk and they made him take it down. I told him he should quit in protest. He said he had to pay the mortgage. I said that's why usury is evil. So we have had this, unofficially, for a long time.

I thought they were going to make exceptions for some Catholic images of significant "cultural heritage", e.g. the crucifix on display in the Quebec parliament chamber. I think the real aim was Muslim burqas, but they have to be seen to be fair.

That pic is so blatant. I have a t-shirt which I don't wear in public, but maybe one day I will. It was given as a gift. It's custom made and my pic is too big to post here. I took it with my camera and I don't know how to make it acceptable to receive here; size-wise. It say's Orthodox Christian in many languages and it forms the Russian Cross.

I've also seen young girls wearing a brand that depicts a Cross. I found that interesting.
