Tues.-Holy Transfiguration, Blessing of Fruit

Could someone explain the blessing of fruit to me that takes place on Holy Transfiguration? I am not familiar with this, but I would like to attend church on Tuesday. I would like to know about the blessing. Thank you for any info!!

What aspect of the fruit blessing were you actually interested in?

If you are speaking from a liturgical perspective, it's just a short, simple 2-5 minute service tacked-on to the end of the Liturgy on Transfiguration. Like on Pascha, the priest censes the fruit, sprinkles it with holy water and reads some prayers and that's it.

Like the article says, in the Northern Hemisphere, it's harvest time, so the fruits are blessed and eaten. It's an encouragement also to continue with the (quite strict) Dormition Fast which always surrounds the Transfiguration.
