Welcome Seeker! I am a convert to Orthodoxy and a member of the ROCOR Church, I was raised Roman Catholic... I just want to let you know if you don't know already, being Orthodox is difficult, I'm not trying to scare you away from becoming Orthodox or anything, I just don't want you to join and then find out that you can't handle it, get frustrated and want to leave (I tend to get high hopes about some things and when I find out that it's not what I expected, if it's too hard or something, I tend to just give up and not bother). I hope that you enjoy your stay here though, and feel free to ask any questions that you might have...I'm sure someone here will be able to answer them, or can direct you to a place that you'll find your answer. Although, I'll tell you what I was told when I was a Catechumen in the Orthodox Church, the #1 best place to find answers about the Orthodox Church is from the priest at the Orthodox Church that you're interested in joining. I have been Orthodox for 2 years now, and I still have some difficulties that I'm overcoming, which I'll probably have to deal with for a while...but if you want to talk to someone in private who came from the RC Church, you're welcome to PM me, I'll be glad to talk to you about anything that you have doubts about.
In Christ,
a sinner, MaryCecilia
Seeker wrote:Hi, I am new here. I have been reading the forum for some time but have never posted. I am a Roman Catholic who goes to a Byzantine Catholic Church who visits and helps out a ROCOR church back home who is thinking about becoming Orthodox. Shhhwww! That was a mouth full. Anyway, just wanted to say hello. I have recently done a website for the small ROCOR back home. Any care to take a look here it is: http://www.geocities.com/rocor_mobile/
I look forward to posting more often and getting to know everyone on this board.
Yours in Theotokos!
