There is a difference between selective breeding, in which the best tasting and largest fruit are selected for the next year's crops, and genetic engineering, where rat genes and/or Bt bacteria are inserted into the genes of a plant to make it deadly to our lovely butterflies and insect pests alike. Studies have shown that the European Honey Bee and the Monarch Butterfly are now being adversely affected by GMO farms as even the pollen from GMO crops can weaken or even kill them.

HR 933 and the Monsanto Protection Act of 2013 is on Obama's desk awaiting his signature.

Could we ask for a repeal of this Monsanto Protection Act? Would our congressmen and senators even listen?

The trouble with genetic engineering is that a gene may be capable of expressing more than one trait. There is also a theory that the configuration of the nucleotide strand may be altered (by environmental factors, or even viruses) resulting in a gene that may be harmful to the organism or those who ingest it.
This is ,in my opinion, an unnatural and unholy manipulation of the basics of life.
Didn't Our Lord forbid the hybridization of plants and animals? I'm sure its in the Old Testament. I just can't find it right now...

We are to be stewards, not creators.

There is the verse in Orthros, "who worshipped the creature, not the Creator."

Post-Renaissance man, it seems, has decided that he is now the "Creator" with his ability to re-engineer creation. And the FDA and President Obama are allowing this deception and these horrible GMO frankenfish and rat-corn to be forced on the unsuspecting American public. And not only the American people, but also India, Africa, and the Philippines have Monsanto farms where workers are dying of cancer or suicide. More and more Indian farmers have been committing suicide with the loss of face as they are forced into bankruptcy because the cost of using Monsanto corn, cotton, and soy have become more expensive, the cost of mandatory hybrid seed has increased, and the cost and use of Roundup and other herbicides have increased as weeds become more resistant to these chemicals.

And now the public has no recourse in the courts for the lies and illnesses inflicted upon them by Monsanto. What disgrace!
Obama has failed to keep his campaign promises.

If you want proof of the above, just google GMO, Indian farmers commit suicide, etc. The websites that I have previously cited in my posts above have articles on the increasing rates of cancer and suicide in those areas where GMO farms exist.
In addition, recent studies have proven that GMO and Roundup ingredients cause cancer.
