I didnt mention any seagulls... I dont understand what you mean.

The news media was fascinated by the presence of the seagulls. Immediately after learning that the name of the New Pope was Francis, then they made the connection with St. Francis of Assisi.

Of course, those in the conclave had no idea that the seagulls were giving away the name of the new Pope.

Those pesky birds! They broke the news for anyone who has eyes to see.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

Are you sure about St francis of Assisi ?
Can you pinpoint that announcement ?

Why would a Jesuit take the name of a Franciscan when especially that particular Francis
railed against the Popes of his time as being very corrupt ?

The other thing is that if that IS in fact the case that this Francis is modeling himself
as "Mr Identify With the Poor", that can always be a way to divert the attention of the masses
who praise that
AWAY FROM
really essential things, like ... a deep spiritual life !

After all, post-vatican II Catholics often talk about "we have to help the poor" as the most important
thing to do with one's life.
Instead of worrying about salvation of the soul....

So I dont know but I am suspicous of this huge campaign to impress the world by the lack of ostentation.

I think those Papal tiaras were nice, myself ! Last seen on Pope Pius XII....

I was just talking to a TOC bishop about that tonight. He feels that the focus of Francis on the poor is materialistic and the opposite of why the True Church has advocated it. The pope is part of a recent initiative to end world poverty by half by 2015. The Lord however said the poor ye always have with you. The pope ought to know that. Also the Pope encourages people not to give to the poor to alleviate the poor but to improve ones spiritual standing (kind of hindu karmic idea, which seems selfish rather than virtuous).

I just noticed that about the seagulls, thanks for that, some months ago, Maria.

Ah, the TOC Bishop was astute. It really IS so un-spiritual of a stance. Just crying for attention from maybe the masses of people around the world,
but especially posturing as "good", "holy" before the Catholic and other Churches.

A total fake this man is !

There is an 11,000 word interview with America magazine done recently.
It's just awful. The only nice thing he has to say [a scandal for conservative Catholics who of course
refer to Orthodox as "Schismatics"] is that Catholics can learn from the Orthodox concept of collegiality of bishops.

He didn't say anything about learning from Orthodox about a return to piety, or how to deepen one's faith in the Mother of God,
or anything else.

Then there is talk of beatifying a radical [leftist] South American prelate named Romero, the type popular with Che Guevara fans.

This man is going to drag the Catholic Church down to shocking levels. He all but OK'd homosexuality recently,
and seems to have bizarre habits of kissing boys very inappropriately, leading to speculation that he may be
a closet something-or-another.

His face is so rigid like a mask. Surely there is something really wrong with him.

Notice how there is no kindness emanating from his eyes. His face doesn't really move or show emotion.
That latter is the sign of sociopaths. Who knows ?
Maybe this man is secretly out to destroy Catholics. I wouldn't be surprised.
No one has really thought of it from that point of view, YET. [To my knowledge].

He may have muscled his way into power, too, indicating a sociopathic bent.
After all, this Bergoglio was not even on the lists of anyone as a likely contender ! Hmmm.

Nadir, what do you think of him ?? Terrible, huh?
Who was your favorite Pope ?
