Carrageenan

The resting place of threads that were very valid in 2004, but not so much in 2024. Basically this is a giant historical archive.

Carrageenan

I was just told about this. It's not just in soya milk, but even dairy products. Unfortunately, my Silk soya milk for coffee has it. I use that on fast days.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Ps. 50)

The above site references this site listed below:

By the way, most of the soy as in soya milk is from genetically engineered organisms (GMO). Unless the manufacturer says that the soy is NOT GMO, you can be sure that it is GMO. A recent study feeding GMO products to rats caused them to produce huge cancerous tumors. If you want to see this study, just ask. I do not want to post it because the pictures are so graphic.

Yes, there are a lot of GRAS (generally recognized as safe) food additives that are dangerous. Most of the items that are on the FDA GRAS list have not been tested in humans. Notice the deceptive phrase "generally recognized" not "certified as safe."

For example, Magnesium Stearate is one of the GRAS items which is found in just about all pills and food supplements. It is an explosive, so if one takes a lot of tablets and capsules, it could reach dangerous levels. The manufacturer uses magnesium stearate to prevent the ingredients from sticking to the walls of the equipment, so the chemical is for the ease of manufacturing, and the FDA allows this assuming that people will only take one to two capsules. However, my doctor has told me to take 400 mg of magnesium daily, so just recently I have switched to a brand that does not have magnesium stearate in it as those capsules caused me to have an upset stomach. The new brand does not cause a stomach upset, so it was the magnesium stearate.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.
