The Hypocrisy of Militant Toleration Legislation

Post by Matthew »

===================================================
Freedom to disagree and the right to private conscience are fundamental liberties in any truly open society. Yet, the Government has utterly failed to consider the impact on civil liberty of its plans to redefine marriage (See their proposals here). ...

The Coalition for Marriage has just released a new leaflet outlining ten case histories of people who have already been punished in various ways for standing for traditional marriage.

In it they argue that redefining marriage is sold as a permissive measure, but it will quickly become coercive. ...

Icxyrion,

Have you ever listened to the lectures of Fr. Steven Allen on this whole issue of 'toleration', that we cooperate with him in airing on NFTU radio?

In Christ,

Fr. Enoch

There is no-one less tolerant, in every sense, than a tolerant liberal as you quickly find when your contrary views become known to them. The same applies to those who uphold the views of Darwin and neo-Darwinism. Especially if you should suggest their views belong to the field of speculative philosophy rather than science.

Also interesting is that when you try to counter the entire evolutionary issue with a Christian view, they ask, "Are you a scientist? --No? Well, then you have no business talking about the subject. Only the [high priests] scientists have the qualifications [right or should I say, copyright] to talk about these matters, not ignorant and superstitious religionists." I love to point out to them at that point that Darwin had no scientific education, but his major in University was .... you guessed it, Religion! He had trained for the ministry of the Church and was an ordained minister. Those were his "qualifications" and if they accept his as sufficient to instruct and convinced them, then they should be consistent and allow Christians to do the same.
