For me, a religion of fear and guilt are things I try to avoid. Christ shed His Blood to wash away our sins. Love Him. Honor His Gift on the Cross. Be washed in the Blood of His Sacrifice and take steps when you stumble to continue loving Him, cleansing your heart: your actions will follow suit. Take all you have have weighing on you to Him, leave it there at the Cross, confess, but work to keep that weight off. There is a joy in Christ to be lived amidst the gloom of the world. The Church is that joy and not simply a place to make that gloom religious. The joy of its holiness should spur us to live a life of fidelity and love so that we can be with Him in the moment of our end times, to bring about holy moments of "Apocalypse" in our lives, when all we have is Christ.

Amen, dear brother! Thank you for the blessed words.

Happy Civil New Year!

"The spouse of Christ cannot be adulterous, she is uncorrupted and pure, She knows one home; she guards with chaste modesty the sanctity of one couch. She keeps us for God. She appoints the sons whom she has born for the Kingdom. Whoever is separated from the Church and is joined to an adulteress is separated from the promises of the Church; nor can he who forsakes the Church of Christ attain to the rewards of Christ."

Beautifully written, all of you !

Jean - Serge is right about the governments.
Patriarch Bartholomew gives himself away as an agent of Something - whatever it is ! - it's NewYear's Eve
on Civil Calendar, so we don't have to figure out exactly -
by his strange words.

Thought-provoking comments by both our new arrival, Revniteli, and the site's eminent commentator,
Icxpion.

May I add here that there was a really awful NYT article about "the Green Patriach" which stated out
with a paragraph of Jane Goodall comparing his beard to a chimpanzee's ?!!

I could hardly believe my eyes when someone sent me this article back in November.

It's all about how "green' his monasteries are, using solar power etc.

I sighed. What would a Patriarch be DOING at an ecology conference ?!
It's the MOST crazy waste of time and focus that one could imagine,
with all the extremely serious spiritual and other problems facing the world.

To be laughing at stupid jokes by Jane Goodall, in a way at Bartholomew's expense.

I think green or ecological consciousness might have something to do with stewarship of creation, but that is prayer and God centered. I really do consider the EP lost and its current hierarch an arch heretic and uniate so I think his pronouncements are about as relevent as would be those of Judas Iscariot. For me if I want to consider the statements of people of his religion I go straight to the source and read what the pope has written and says. Why trifle with the middle man, especially when he is even more morally compromised than his liege.

Ha! Ha! That is like marketing your bottled tap water by saying that your brand is low-calorie and sugar-free!
All monasteries are "green" because they are all run that way and because monasteries are poor and depend on cheap methods and manpower to do things to save money. It is not because the monks are trying to be eco-friendly! What a joke. Jockeying for attention and credit that is undeserved and unearned.

Well, While I think that any Christian worth his salt is indeed concerned about not damaging the earth and the natural order that God committed to our care, it is almost like a convenient side affect of simple holy living, more than the carrying out of an actual agenda to "save the earth." Besides, it is the extreme leftists that are so much into hyping "green" issues. There is an agenda behind this kind of thing, and it has to do with the spread of globalism by weakening the Western industrial nations (carbon taxes, and restrictions on industry volume to cut down production and weaken the economy) and at the same time the same global restrictions are not being forced upon the Chinese who are told they are allowed to build one new coal-driven energy plants a day to fuel their industries cheaply. If the concern had anything to do with the shrill cry to "Save the EARTH!!!!" then China would not be allowed to build coal fueled plants on a daily basis, but would have to rely on low-CO2 "green energy" sources for their industries. It is about trying to restructure the power balance in preparation for a third world war and that there will be no winners unless we all turn to the AC to save us from destroying our selves. They Want China to be able to tear down the American Eagle from its lofty perch on the highest branch and then embolden them to launch a world war for global domination, out of which their long dreamed of goal of a United World Government will arise from the ashes like a demonic phoenix.
