Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!

Post by Maria »

This salutation is used in the New Calendar Church of the OCA whenever a priest addresses the people or parishioners greet each other.

As I recall, the salutation used to be:

Glory to Jesus Christ!
Glory to Him forever!

Him refers to our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.

Now that the new abbreviated version is used, it seems to be glorifying the Name of Jesus
(as do the Name-Worshipping sects).

Glory to Jesus Christ!
Glory forever!

I raise this question because of the controversy surrounding Name Worshippers and their inroads to the MP and the OCA.

Since I was a member of the OCA, I have had to change my online signatures back to the old version: Glory to Him forever.

I have since heard that two popular priests in the OCA have subtly taught the Name-Worshipping/Name-Glorifying Heresy:
Father T. Hopko and Abbot M. Webber.
Is this true?

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, in the other thread, but to believe in worshiping the name of Jesus Christ sounds like the belief the Hari K have about saying the K name. I don't even want to write the full name. They believe that name has power in itself. So even when non-believers say it, they are receiving the power of that name. That's why they do their dance worshiping in public, so that outsiders will start saying the name in conversations.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Ps. 50)

I don't see how "Glory forever" can imply name-worshiping. Maybe if it was "Glory to His Name forever", or "Glory to the Name forever".
