Ways to help a departed person:
1.Pray to God
a.to visit the soul of the departed person and to force this soul and as many souls as possible to heaven for all eternities and to give to this soul whatever God knows that this soul needs for all eternities, including baptism if needed, Holy Communion if needed and confession if needed . Ask God to visit the souls of as many people as possible. To get power, a prayer needs to do as much good as possible helping other people as well. For prayer to be powerful at the end of prayer you can pray: dear God please make this prayer as useful as possible.
b.to show you where the departed soul is and to let you know what can you do to help with efficiency the departed soul together with as many departed souls as possible.Pray also that this help be made efficient with small effort and with as much great effect as possible.
c.to help you help the departed soul as much as possible together with other souls
Point b is important. You have some limited resources like time and you want to do best possible good. How can you use them best? Ask God . There are many things people don't know or understand. God does.
- Give gifts to God in the name of the departed person. This can be done according with Matthew 25:40
a.Give to a poor person 5 breads, 3 bottles of water, 3 pairs of clothes, 3 pairs of shoes as a gift to God from the departed soul. When giving say in your mind "This is a gift to God from departed person X"
b.Give to a poor person or to an Eastern Orthodox Church pieces of myrrh, incense and gold. These can be small pieces. When giving say in your mind "This is a gift to God from departed person X"
c.Pray to God to help you give him a gift in the name of departed person according with your possibilities and that for that gift to be as useful for you and for departed person as possible. Pray so that this gift giving will be only useful and will NOT be for fall .
IMPORTANT!!!!!
a.Do not promise anything as you DON'T know what will be tomorrow. If you want something done just do it. Promising is bad.
b.Since this is about God, pray so that the giving of gifts to God to be only useful for all gift giving to God. You don't want to goof it.
3.Do a part of good deeds you do , in the name of the departed soul
Some people return from death . When coming back, some of them said that they saw being offered to them maybe over 100 times over:
-food they have given to the poor while living, so give what the departed soul liked to eat IN HIS NAME to the poor
-drink they have given to the poor. Water in after life is expensive as gold
-clothes they have given to the poor so give clothes in his name
-gardens they have made free to take for everyone and houses they did not build giving money to the poor , see for example life of Apostle Thomas found on Internet using google.
If no resources available, either ask God for resources or pray in the name of departed soul so that the poor receive food, drink, clothes, housing , health , jobs and such.
Matthew 25 recommends beside above:
-housing the poor
-visiting sick people and people in jail
Other good deeds you can do :
a.To bless Creation in the name of departed person . Blessed are all Creations of God now and ever and unto all ages of ages.Amen. You can say in your mind, I will bless Creations in the name of departed person X for y times.
b.To bless God in the name of departed person Blessed is God always , now and ever and unto all ages of ages. Amen.
c. To fulfill Matthew 25:30-41 in the name of departed person. Don't forget your soul too.

So if you want life give life. If you want food give food. And so on.
Beside material goods there are spiritual goods that a person may need.
Also whatever good you do in departed person name, may come back to him.
Spiritual good deeds
a.to baptize somebody and pray for this good deed to go to departed person is very powerful good deed. baptism = opening the door to heaven so opening the path to Heaven may come back
b.to help a non christian become christian that is saving a soul in the name of departed person and pray for this good deed to go to departed person. Being child of Adam and Eve, non christian may not be able to enter Heaven.
c.go to an Eastern orthodox Church with LITURGICAL WINE AND BREAD for 40 LITURGIES, this is extremely powerful since means giving eternal life so eternal life may come back and doing this souls have been rescued from Hell or improved their condition. Also put the name of departed person to a list called diptych and give the list to an Eastern orthodox priest so that the name will me mentioned at Holy Liturgy when God comes. This is very powerful.
d.Light a vigil lamp in front of an icon of Jesus in the name of departed person. One day the vigil lamp burns,means that the soul MAY be taken one day to Heaven according with some writing.
e.Light a candle or candles (candle -sacrifice) at an Eastern orthodox Church on the place for departed persons
f. Write "The history of Joseph the Carpenter" in the name of departed person or even in the name of living person or for yourself. Point 26 says that whomever writes this, his book of sins will be BURNED at death and judgement in honor of Joseph the Father of Jesus. If possible give what is written to somebody else.
g.Build an Eastern orthodox Church in a poor country. Affordable. For as many years that Church is functioning, your name will be mentioned in front of God. By doing this you help with people baptism and people getting Holy Communion so much good can come back for many years over and over and you build the Church once.
If something is done for more people, like a prayer, it becomes more powerful.
Whatever you do for the departed person or whatever you like you can also do for somebody else for example for somebody in after life that has nobody living.
