On Tuesday June 6/19, 2012 the Holy Synod of the Church of the G.O.C. of Greece convened in a regular session at its offices in Athens (located at 32 Kaningos 3rd floor) and after chanting the Trisagion for the memory Metropolitan Spyridon formerly of Australia, who recently reposed, it discussed the following items on the agenda:

1. His Grace Bishop Photios of Marathon informed the Holy Synod concerning the hearing of the case in Zakynthos between the General Fund of the Church of the G.O.C. and the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi concerning the bequest of Fr. Adrian the Sinaite in Zakynthos (the church of All Saints).
2. His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Attica and Boeotia updated the Holy Synod concerning his recent trip to Canada and America.
3. His Beatitude Archbishop Kallinikos of Athens and all Greece updated the Holy Synod concerning his recent trip to England and the two parishes there together with His Grace Bishop Photios of Marathon.
4. The petition of presbyter Fr. Spyridon Tanous from Sweden to be received from the Patriarchate of Antioch has been accepted, since the relevant information has been verified and he came personally to Greece for the completion of the process.
5. The answer to the monastic brotherhood’s petition which had been discussed at the previous meeting was approved.
6. The suggestion of His Grace Bishop Photios of Marathon to recirculate “The Voice of Orthodoxy” «Φωνὴ τῆς Ὀρθοδοξίας», was approved.
7. The final details for the synodal celebration of St. Paul in Athens were finalized.
8. The proposed plan for the extension of subjects and the upgrade of the Catechetical School by His Grace Bishop Photios of Marathon was approved. During the next academic year there will be no new enrollees but those who are already enrolled will complete their studies while in the meantime the process of upgrading (establishing new by-laws, designing of new curricula, teaching materials and determination of teachers) will proceed so that in the following academic year the work of the new training organization will begin.
9. The responsibility for the pocket calendars for 2013, which will be dedicated to the ever-memorable Fr. John Phloros, has been entrusted to the Coordinating Committee of Ne.O.S.
