Re: A "Orthodox" response to Islam
Lord have mercy.
Yet, if photographers were to follow some of our True Orthodox around town, they would surely catch some of us wearing bathing suits or skimpy wear at the beach on a hot day during summer. Teens can be rebellious and want to blend in with their peers. Not only that, if a child attends a public school, and were to wear long skirts and head coverings, they would surely be called into the Principal's Office. We do not truly have religious freedom in the USA or in many places in the world.
So, this is a very difficult subject to address without sounding a bit hypocritical.
Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

Yes, dear in Christ, Maria, I understand perfectly, and I am not judge anyone. But only it is very interesting and very sad that pious Muslim women, pious Jew women, pious protestant or catholic women from some traditional groups, dress much more modestly than many Orthodox women (even "Traditionalist" ones).

Yes, I agree, and I wish I could do something, but all I can do is be a good example and pray.
Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

Dear in Christ, thank you, that is too much in this culturally westernized world, more and more secularist and unchristian. God will help!

Well, we could get that level of piety too if we stoned women to death and condoned "honor killings" for the slightest indiscrete action. But if that were part of our faith, then I wouldn't be a Christian. The point is not for us to surrender to the will of our religion, but rather to submit willingly to God's better plans for us. I have a daughter too, what will I do when so goes through a rebellious stage? Modesty begins inside a person, not because you can force a woman to cover her body under duress. It is a great burden to be the child of a priest and try as he might, he may have little control over what she does when he is not around him. These people in WO need our prayers, becasuse there but for the grace of God we go too.

Re: A "Orthodox" response to Islam
Father, in the Jew town of Buenos Aires, they don't stone their women by no means, they are quite free and go university et al. But they dress very modestly, more than many Orthodox women, even "matushki" and "traditionalist", this is not only a "wrong" of the "World Orthodoxy".
Dont forget, the early Christians were respected by the pagans, among other things, because of the modesty of their women.
