nonecumenistic Orthodoxy in Germany ?

Post by Andrej »

Are there nonecumenistic orthodox churches/parishes in Germany, especially in Berlin?

Has ROAC any activities in Germany?

Were to go?

Dear in Christ, Andrei:

I do not know about ROAC has some parish/mission in Germany. I thin that GOC has a Parish there, also RTOC (Gruop of Archbishop Tikhon) is doing something there based from Lesna Monastery.

Dear Father Siluan and dear Ekklisiastikos,
thank you both for your reply.

I know the group cited by Ekklisiastikos, see http://www.orthodoxinfo.de.vu/

This group was formerly linked to old calendarian greek churches (GOC if I remember right) , but recently there seem to be no more links to greek parishes.
The "orthodox christian information center" is linked and the "serbian orthodox diocese of Raska and Prizren" is mentioned (wrong link).

I am born in a protestant family, my wife and my son are catholic.
Since long time it became impossible for me to visit protestant churches because I felt there was no believe at all....except the typical modern "political believe". The few remaining believing protestant pastors were expelled and replaced by...I do not know how to describe the "new typus"...

In the catholic church it seemed to be a little bit better but the same tendencies developed.
My strong believing catholic wife refuses now to visit any catholic church.
Even my son (in the twenties) who was - basically in a good way - catholic educated and for a long time could not understand my bad feelings in the more and more "modernized" catholic churches asked to leave the church on christmas mass (!) because he could not hear any time longer the "hobby scholasticism" which was presented even on this holy feast.
(..at least it was no open politics...)

We went sometimes to traditional catholic masses, but my wife refused to continue, because she can not pray there due to extensive "Church musics" as Gregorianics, Bach, Mozart etc. (old mass has an "important cultural meaning"...but is that really the sense of the mass ???)...and I refuse, because again due to politization, this time simple "right" instead of "left" ...for me not too different.

Of course we visited also the "Orthodoxe Gemeinde Hl. Symeon Stylites"...we wondered here so much about the great friendship with the "bishops" of the catholic and protestant churches.
I am not so much caring about "heresies" ... why is it not seen that these "bishop-friends" could not be even any kind of heretics, because for to be an "heretic" ( I am not a specialist for this issue) imho you first have to be some kind of a christian...but these "bishops" are simply atheists in my mind.
...So I felt uncomfortable again....

What we are doing at moment is to visit the russian church (MP) and we are happy not to understand any word there.
So this is a good place for praying and remembering the loved deceased.

In the last 20 years the church in Germany seems to be virtually evaporated...and as a ironic confirmation for this: There are now nearly daily absurd "comedy attacks" in the TV on the church, the pope etc. as it was imposible even some months ago in this form here.

I read since long time in your websites and in the sites of ROAC (Vertrograd) and I like to thank you for your work !

Thanks also for the informations concerning the chapel in "Gütersloh".

We will visit Russia next spring and will on this opportunity also visit churches of the ROAC - I hope still existing in Suzdal?

In Christ

Dear Andrej!

Firstly, you could write ROAC Father Alexey Lebedev from St. Petersburg, I think he could help you about if there is some ROAC parish in Germany, also he is in contact with Lesna Monastery in France, I heard they (Lesna) are beginning some mission in Germany. I will give his Email Address by PM.

If you will be visiting Suzdal, of course, in spite of persecution, we still have some parishes there and the Synodal Headquarter.

Synodal House Address

Rossiya, 601293, Vladimirskaya Obl. g. Suzdal, ul. Teremki, d.2

(Teremki 2 street, Suzdal City, Vladimir Region, Zip Code 601293, Russia)

Phone: +7 (49231) 2-06-04
Fax: +7 (49231) 2-14-69

As for MP, it is not a true church, it is a soviet organization created by Stalin in 1943.

Dear Father Siluan,
thanks a lot for the further informations !

I will contact father Alexey according to your recommendation and hope that he might help us to connect closer with the real church.

The following is from the christmas epistle of Metropolitan Valentine/Suzdal 2009/2010:

The Church is itself that very kingdom, not of this world, which has come in power. And the hour is near when the faithful remnant of our nation, just like the first Christians, will abandon your fake, shiny churches, and will draw near to the Uncreated Light, Who once shone forth, not in a luxurious palace, but in a humble cave. The Church of Christ, persecuted by you, is returning to its roots – the catacombs, where there is neither luxury nor wealth, but where “God dwells with men” (Rev. 21:3), and where the breath of the Holy Spirit is tangibly felt.

Dear Andrej,

There is a big and very good parish of Greek TOC ("Chysostimites") in Berlin. Besides there are a number of other TOC parishes there. Here is an e-mail of one of the parishioneers in Berlin:

nunebars at gmail dot com

It is better to write there in German or in Russian, but English is also a sort of OK.
