ROCOR Missions

Post by Philoteus »

Some ROCOR missions are coming into existence. Pious, well meaning Christians who do not agree what the MP is doing although they are united to the MP. These little missions do not practice Ecumenism and do not give the mysteries to the heterodox. They are victims like all the rest of us with this heresy and have no control what their hierarchy is doing. In fact if one looks every hierarchy Russian, Greek, Paul of Astoria, and many many others are guilty of the very thing they all profess they do not.

Question is why not support these little missions? Attend the liturgy and participate? There is no grace in their mysteries? Prove to me that is true.

Dear Philoteus:

The main issue in contemporary Orthodoxy is the ancient sin of pride. Yes, we are all sinners, but the fact that some of these bishops (either New or Old Calendarists) only aim at earthly recognition is what keeps all of us divided and fighting against each other. Nobody wants unity because it is too hard to get rid of empty titles and honors, so they rather contribute to the destruction of the Church and the isolation/spiritual hunger of the faithful than capitulate and come to a mutual agreement that will serve for the rejoice and spiritual nourishment of all the believers.

A better question is: are their Bishops innocent?

That is the more important question, since unless your Bishop has condemned ecumenism and doesn't partake of it, what individual parishes do is a moot point.

You called these parishes "Pious, well meaning Christians who do not agree what the MP is doing although they are united to the MP". Then it sounds like they aren't being honest with themselves-- or their mother Church. (And I don't put that in quotes, because to such parishes, that is precisely who they are in disagreement with.)
