An announcement from Despota CHRISTODOULOS:

The Holy Metropolis of the Genuine Greek Orthodox Church of America

Cathedral of St. Markella of Chios

22-68 26 Street

Astoria, NY 11105

718-932-1592

March 13, 2008

ANNOUNCEMENT

With the blessings of His Eminence Metropolitan Pavlos, the Holy Metropolis is pleased to announce the return of Greek Orthodox Christian Television. GOCTV is the television ministry produced by the Holy Metropolis at the Cathedral in New York. For many years this program was available only in the New York City area via local cable television channels, and only at specific times. Now through the use of the Internet GOCTV will be available worldwide, twenty-four hours a day.

GOCTV is a ministry that has a mandate to augment the Church’s enlightenment of the faithful, edification of the enquirer, and transformation of the skeptic, through the use of the medium of television.

Currently there are two programs available on the channel. One is a short news program produced by a local ABC affiliate that shows the construction of the Parish of St. Maximos the Confessor in Owego, NY. The second program, produced by GOCTV, is a panel discussion of an essay by Fr. John Romanides titled, “Original Sin According to St. Paul.”

In the days ahead, GOCTV will have programs dealing with Ecumenism, Orthodox history in places such as Kosovo-Metohija, the maligning of our faith on such channels as The History Channel, and the slanderous portrayal of such great and holy men as St. Constantine the Great in film, on Internet forums, and in print.

Greek Orthodox Christian Television can be accessed at: www.YouTube.com/GreekOrthodoxTV

The producers suggest that you subscribe to the channel. By subscribing you will be notified by e-mail whenever a new program is available.

Christ be with you,

+Christodoulos

One would hope that future installments of this so-called "GOCTV" on the Internet will not be as poor and pathetic as the inaugural effort.

Let's be clear. The writings of John Romanides are worse than worthless, and of no use for the Church. His writings are imbued, not with the spirit of truth, but with the spirit of error and blasphemy. His writings ought to be branded as poisonous.

John Romanides was a new-calendarist, ecumenist heretic. A member of the central committee of the World Council of Churches. He slanders Holy Church and the holy saints of God in many of his trashy writings.

The judgment of Bp. Christodoulos must seriously be called into question when his grace promotes this enemy of the Church on his "GOCTV".

Furthermore, the HOTCA parish of St. John the Forerunner in Chicago has for a while now posted a link to Romanides' website, promoting it as an "excellent site for the true history of Romiosini and Orthodoxy".

It's becoming increasingly more apparent all the time, that certain clergy within the synod of Met. Pavlos are enamored with the writings of John Romanides.

From whom this originates I know not, but I find this promotion of Romanides, an enemy of the Church, offensive, and I intend to not let it go unchallenged.

If you wish to write a polite and academic response to the book Ancestral Sin, that would be welcome. At least we would know what your objections are specifically.

Yeah, we would like also to see an academic response to the book Patristic Theology instead of spitting slanders !

Anastasios,

This has been gone over and over again. While the nature of the Original Sin is very mysterious and I for one do not understand it properly the fact is that we do not just inherit mortality from our forefather Adam but also sin and guilt. Infants are Baptised for the forgiveness of sin. To say otherwise is go aganist the Church of God and make yourself a heretic. However as our Holy Father St Augustine of Hippo states we are not personally responsible for the sin commited by Adam whatever the lies of those scandalous videos.

I hope to God that his Grace knew nothing about their content otherwise we are faced with the frightening possibility that HOTCA has offically confessed heresy and so fallen away from the Church- I say possibility if they have indeed appeared with his Blessing and not that HOTCA definitely would have.

We are on very dangerous ground.

Holy Father Augustine pray to God for us!

Cyprian,

This is not just a matter of what is offensive. If the probably concious lies of Romanides are being actually believed and confessed publically this is a question of heresy....and heresy seperates us from the Church.

I hope and pray that is matter will be dealt with and blow over quickly.

The second canon of the Council of Carthage.

Likewise it has been decided that whoever says that infants fresh from their mothers’ wombs ought not to be baptized, or says that they are indeed baptized unto the remission of sins, but that they draw nothing of the original sin from Adam, which is expiated in the bath of regeneration, whence it follows that in regard to them the form of baptism “unto the remission of sins” is understood as not true, but as false, let him be anathema. Since what the Apostle says: “Through one man sin entered into the world (and through sin death), and so passed into all men, in whom all have sinned” [cf. Rom. 5:12], must not to be understood otherwise than as the Catholic Church spread everywhere has always understood it. For on account of this rule of faith even infants, who in themselves thus far have not been able to commit any sin, are therefore truly baptized unto the remission of sins, so that that which they have contracted from generation may be cleansed in them by regeneration.

Romanides waffle has been anathemized by the Church.

It is as unacceptable as Ecumenism.

Theophan.
