Anyone know of a prayer for conversion?

Post by ChristosVoskrese »

Does anyone know of a prayer for the conversion of someone to Holy Orthodoxy? Would it be possible to pray a round of the prayer rope for such an intention?

prayer of our holy father, saint ambrose, bishiop of milan

thee alone i will follow, lord jesus , who heals my wounds. for what shall separate me from the love of god, which is in thee? shall tribulation, or distress, or famine? i am held fast as though by nails, and fetterd by the bonds of charity. remove from me, o lord jesus, with thy potent sword, the corruption of my sins. secure me in the bonds of thy love;cut away what is corrupt in me. come quickly and make an end of my many,my hidden and secret afflictions. open the wound lest the evil humour spread. with thy new washing, cleanse in me all that is stained. hear me, you earthly men, who in your sins bring forth drunken thoughts; i have found a physican. he dwells in heaven and distributes his healing on earth. he alone can heal my pains who himself has none. he alone who knows what is hidden, can take away the grief of my heart, the fear of my soul- jesus christ. christ is grace, christ is life, christ is ressurrection! amen

st ambrose attributed this prayer to the apostle matthew, upon the occasion of the apostles conversion

Pray what's on your heart with fervency. Obedience to God is the key to His blessings.

The only prayer that counts is the simple essential one... Lord Jesus Christ Son of God have mercy on me a sinner.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Ps. 50)

Since the topic is on prayer for conversion, my post was very on topic. The Jesus prayer is not for the conversion of others. It is a self-centered prayer for number 1.

The self is the only thing Orthodox people really care about anyway.

I am becoming very discouraged by the arrogance of Orthodox people. That is why I started studying the Roman primacy. Orthodox people are schismatic, arrogant and have no love. This comes from 16 years of experience.

Evfimy,

I will repeat. My answer to C.V. was to him. And for the person he was referring to. It may seem out of context for you, but I am just informing you that it is about something specific. You can't always know the circumstance of the people that write to each other here. But, in this case, it was instruction for the person he was referring to. That is all that I can say.

It's by no means an offence to your reply. But, you are right. The Jesus Prayer is for personal issues. Personally, I think that a prayer for a person's conversion would be to simply pray for the person. I do that for my family all the time. I can't help them to understand. But, the beauty of conversion is that God decides when He will reach that person's heart and I hope that part of that may be my prayers for them.

It's sad that you have turned to the papacy. It's not a matter of how people act but what it means to be Christian. The holy fathers are the best example and they lived for Christ.

Orthodox people are schismatic, arrogant and have no love. This comes from 16 years of experience.

Sixteen years of experience of what? Being in it or observing it, from outside?

You do realize that your comment is extreme? People may be arrogant but Orthodoxy isn't.[/quote]

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Ps. 50)
