Post by padre »

With delight I inform you that the our H.Synod haves a new Bishop. In the meeting of yesterday elected Bishop for Russia the archimandrite Nektarios Yasouski (for St.Petesburg) as Bishop of Olympou. The area of this whilom diocess is in central Greece (on the foothill of mount Olympos).
Today morning took place his ordination in the cathedral of Athens by H.B. Archbishop Makarios, Metropolitans Kallinikos, Efthimios and Christoforos and Bishop Athanasios. In the liturgy officiated 8 priestes.
At the Saturday the Theofilestatos Nektarios will depart from Russia.
His e-mail is Pantanassa_spb@mail.ru

Why? One may notice that non of the TOCs of Russian have elected Russian bishops for Greece. So why would Greek bishops elect a Greek bishop for Russia, who already has plenty of Russian TOC bishops?

I agree... I think Greek clergy, even priests, should stay out of Russia. If we are ever going to have one united Russian Church and one united Greek Church again, this isn't going to help IMO.

Dear Father,

The reason is simple and its the reason that a lot of Russians prefer to be under Greek Bishops- it is much harder for the KGB-FSB-MP to inflirate the Greek Old Calendarists than it is for them to do so within a Russian mileau. Both Bishop Lazar (his ordination to the Episcopate was the first signal to the Catacombs that there was something seriously WRONG with ROCOR) and Metropolitian Valentine(after all he was an MP archimandrite in a majior tourist spot) I am sorry to say are suspected by many of being agents.

Theophan.

"Agent Gavryusha"

Gabriel Chemodakov (РПЦЗ MP) and Меrcury (MP) took communion together.
Metropolitan Valentine somehow recently by phone has asked Gabriel: " Well, Gavryush Chemodakov, all of you suspected about me that I am a KGB agent. Now, who is the agent, you or me?! "
In reply, He (Gabriel) was only scared: " I do not understand! I do not understand ", and has hung up. So.

His Grace, Bishop Nektarii, is a resident and (I think) a native of St. Petersburg, Russia. If you read his "live journal," he writes that he was given the title of a Greek see by our Synod out of respect for Russia's historical autocephaly.

However, many people in Russia do not accept any of the Russian jurisdictions and joined various Greek synods. Our Synod is caring for its flock in Russia as best they can.
