I wonder if there is any truth to the claim this Traditionalist Greek Orthodox group: http://www.egoch.org/ who claims to be a descendant of Bishop Matthew. Does anybody know the educational credentials and who is this Archbishop Chrysostosmos Metropolou of Thessaloniki to claim to be the ONLY true bishop in the world who hasen't fallen into heresy or schism? I am asking this because I am trying to make a decision to be baptized, but under which bishop?

He was one of the so-called "Five", the other side of the schism that happened within the Matthewites in 1995 to Archbishop Nicholas. Whether the Synod of Archbishop Nicholas is Iconomachic or not it seems impossible to get a straight answer on from them but the 5 certainly claimed that they were. I have corresponded with two people under him both of whom I have found courteous and more than happy to answer questions. He later broke from Met Gregorios's over the whole "Beginningless Church" issue which as far as I understand it he and Met Kyrikos are theologically at least in the right. Those with him and I presume he himself are accusing Met Gregorios and his synod of Nestorianism. Petros who put up that site is a very decent guy. I suggest that you write to him.
