Two thoughts. First, it is difficult to make sense of the MP criticizing the use of English--or the use of the New Calendar--in this recent conference, since they are the very ones who granted autocephaly to the OCA in 1970, an action that was denounced by blessed Metropolitan Philaret at the time. In other words, the MP is contradicting itself here.
Second, I have seen the implementation of anti-English policy at the local level in the ROCOR during the past five years. It was only recently that I learned about former KGB Lt. Col. Konstantin Preobrazhensky's book, [i]The KGB and Russian Emigration,[/i] in which he claims that this recent "Russianization" and control of the ROCOR in North America, and elsewhere, has been part of a deliberate policy initiative of the FSB (KGB) under Vladimir Putin. I have no way of knowing whether Preobrazhensiy is telling the truth, but the anti-English sentiments expressed at this recent high level MP-ROCOR conference seem to reflect an over-arching policy of Russianizing the American ROCOR under Metropolitan Laurus.
