Orthodox-Lutheran joint commission for developing dialogue between the two traditions

Moscow, November 30, Interfax - At its 13th meeting in November in Bratislava the Orthodox-Lutheran joint commission for theological dialogue registered a growth in mutual understanding between the two church traditions.
‘The Joint Commission expressed once again its strong affirmation of the continuation of the dialogue between the two traditions’, states the communiquй of the meeting.
The commission also adopted a common statement setting forth the views of both traditions on the sacrament of communion, the Moscow Patriarchate official website has reported.
Among the participants were also representatives of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Patriarchates of Alexandria, Antioch, Jerusalem, Serbia, Romania, as well as the Churches of Cyprus, Greece, Poland, Albania, Czech Lands and Slovakia, and Finland.
The Russian Orthodox Church was represented by Prof. Alexey Osipov, Moscow Theological Seminary and Academy, and Deacon George Sergeyev, department for external church relations.
The next meeting of the commission is scheduled for 3 - 8 October, 2007, in Joensuu, Finland.
