Well in Lebanon and Syria, many "orthodox" commune in catholic churches and vice versa...Some are baptised as orthodox but make their first comunion at the Catholic church... This patriarchate is highly adogmatical and is slowly sinking into heresy... So I am not surprised they allow women to serve the altar, which is simply, feminism... As regards this subject, the OCA prohibited women to serve the altar... But I think Antiochans want to be modern and cooooool... and imitate everything the catholics do...

Answer the question I asked first, then I'll answer yours. Which is the true Holy Tradition of the Orthodox Church? Is it that priests have no power to forgive sins, or that they do have the power to forgive sins?
Surely if you are an Orthodox Priest, you should know whether or not you have the power to forgive sins. Especially since you belong to a group which claims to be one of the few which upholds Holy Tradition. So answer my question that I may know whether "Traditionalists" uphold Holy Tradition or simply the customs of 18th century Russia, even when they contradict Holy Tradition.

The Latin formula is from a completely different understanding of the role of the priest: he acts in persona Christi (Christ is absent),the confession is made directly to him as intermediary between God and the penitent, he forgives.
Orthodox tradition the confession is to God in the presence of the priest, Christ is not absent we do not need anyone to represent Him, the priest is an "icon" of Christ not an intermediary between God and the penitent, he pronounces God's forgiveness.

The Russians did get westernized in many respects, which I've noticed and never liked. I much prefer the ancient Greek traditions; I wonder if St. Seraphim of Sarov, for example, followed these changes.
It's a very interesting point, you brought up, George. Just one change of a syllable can make a difference. It can change the whole meaning of theological teachings.
The question is...with this difference, you pointed out, were and are all the people who went to confession, not absolved of sins, by God because of the wording?
