An Antichrist makes his proclamation

The resting place of threads that were very valid in 2004, but not so much in 2024. Basically this is a giant historical archive.

An Antichrist makes his proclamation

Pope: My 'deep respect' for Islam

VATICAN CITY (AP) -- Pope Benedict XVI has said he has "deep respect" for Islam and hopes that his recent remarks that sparked anger from Muslims lead to dialogue among religions.

The pope on Wednesday acknowledged his remarks were open to misinterpretation, but insisted he had not intended to endorse a negative view of Islam.

"I hope that in several occasions during the visit ... my deep respect for great religions, in particular for Muslims -- who worship the one God and with whom we are engaged in defending and promoting together social justice, moral values, peace and freedom for all men -- has emerged clearly," Benedict said during his weekly audience at the Vatican.

"The one God?" Sounds like he's implying they worship our God. \/

It becomes ever more apparent that their "Allah" and our Allah are not the same.
Sorry to see the Pope of Rome equivocate on this...

I'm very disappointed in the Pope. No one will take a stand against radical Islam till it's too late, and they've taken over the West!

The bishop of Rome styles himself as Christ's Vicar on Earth. Surely such an erudite man can see their is no possibility of reconciling Christianity and Islam. Christ is the God-man, The Saviour and Our Messiah. But according to Islam he is merely a messenger of God. We believe He was crucified, died and rose again. Not so Islam. And so the differences on the teaching regarding God go on.

To be civil, fine. But to conduct himself as he appears to be doing serves no one and merely shows the gap between Orthodoxy and the Latins.

Ahhh, but it DOES serve someone. The same someone who tells this church to protect pedophile priests!

LAHORE, Pakistan (AP) -- About 1,000 clerics and religious scholars at a meeting in eastern Pakistan demanded the removal of the pope for making "insulting remarks" against Islam, and warned the West of severe consequences if it didn't change its stance regarding Islam.

and

The "Pope, and all Infidels, should know that no Muslim, under any circumstances, can tolerate an insult to the Prophet (Muhammad).... If the West does not change its stance regarding Islam, it will face severe consequences," it said.

Yeah. Islam is a religion of peace.
