Yes, I agree, Ekaterina. I certainly didn;t mean to disparage the work done. It is top-notch.

I think you may be missing the point here.....I think the picture were ment to illustrate the descriptions of the services. I believe the writer simply used whatever pictures were available to him personallly. It is the descriptions of the various aspects of the services that are the most interesting to me.

I understand that this was the work of a young seminarian for his parish site. Personally I think he did a good job with the descriptions.

Katya

Indeed he made a good job... :D

I'm rather taken by their icon of Our Lady of the Sign as well. I once saw a slide of one in very bright colours and haven't been able to ascertain where the original is. I would very much like a copy of it or one similar to it for my icon corner but have had no success in finding any similar. :(

Haven't been able to find a brightly coloured one if you mean the robes of the Mother of God, but for drama I like this one from:

which appears to be from a fresco and I think the gold on Her robes will make this icon appear much brighter than in the photo - the one you refer to has a gold background which gives its light to the overall effect. Also, this site is excellent for information about icons:

Also, this one from Skete has a gold background, but a bit more subdued than one newly done:

Which reminds me, have you thought about commissioning one? Worth doing I think if there's a special one for meaning or occasion.

"A interesting site with beautiful pictures.......

Milla"

I beg to agree, I've visited the site myself. I was able to download several pictures that I can use for my prayer presentations to my students tomorrow. Thanks a lot! I hope you get to post more of those useful links.
