Israeli Military Crimes In Lebanon

The resting place of threads that were very valid in 2004, but not so much in 2024. Basically this is a giant historical archive.

Dear Icvonophili, Israel is100x over wrong in what they are doing, but please, to be accurate, call these types of things what they truly are Israeli crimes, not Jewish crimes. Lokewise if the American Army does something vile, it is an American atmy crime, not a christian crime since 80%+ of all Americans call themself Christian.

The IDF vs. "The Jews"

Post by 尼古拉前执事 »

Absolutely correct, but these are the actions of a nation-state, not of a religion, and that nation claims the name of Israel, whether it is legitamate or not.

The Orthodox Church is the New Israel, but we do not call ourself the Israeli army, Israeli government, or the Israeli nation or the IDF.

Whether you want to say the Israeli Gov't, the IDF that is fine, but again, for the 3rd time, it is not right to say this is the action of "The Jews", just as the actions of the governments and armies Rome, Byzantium, Greece, or Russia when they were Orthodox Countries were not per se the actions of "The Christians".

On another website I seem to be regarded, as does any serious critic of Israel and its' armed forces actions, as 'antisemitic'. On this forum I tend to draw exactly the opposite criticism. So in for a penny, in for a pound.

The actions we are appalled by include the heavily disproportionate actions of the IDF, with the ratio of casualties running more or less consistently throughout the most recent conflict at 10:1. For every Israeli killed, ten non Israelis die. And now despite repeated calls to the IDF that they are shelling a UN observation post 4 unarmed UN observers are killed.

And for the first time I can recall the British foreign secretary has lodged a formal complaint with the US, over the transhipment of arms to Israel from the US, via Prestwick airport in Scotland without the UK's prior agreement.

The destruction of Lebanon, and the killing and maiming of people, whether Lebanese, Israeli or other is appalling. And as far as I can see the only benefactors so far are the arms manufacturers and merchants.

A wanderer, trying to discern truth from falsehood

I am not an "Anti-Semitic", I am Anti-Zionist.

Dear Stephen,

I am simply asking people to use proper descriptive language. These sins are cast on this nation of Israel, as it is an action of a nation-state, not a religion. I am very critical of Israel and Zionism in general. I also think that Israel's attacks on Lebanon were uncalled for and they need to answer for these crimes. That being said, I would never say "The Jews" when the specific people responsible are the Israeli nation-state and the IDF. Likewise we should not call the actions of Hezbollah, the actions of "The Muslims" or actions of America, Greece, Italy, Russia, et al, the actions of "The Christians" as this too would be inaccurate in the same way.

To be "Proper" would be to call "The Roman Catholic Church" "The Paypist Church" To be proper IS to call jews "Jews" Not "Israel"
