Actually I have found that being asked my religion is rare but being asked "Why the long beard," or "Fasting?... why do that?" leads to far more conversations about religion and morality than what religion I am.

That's a good point- I am often asked about why I am not eating meat during a fast period and it often leads to a discussion of the Faith as far as practices go. I do think that I cut short some opportunities by focusing on explaining what we fast from rather than what we fast for, though.
