My aim was not to bash anyone... or to hurt anyone... It was simply an observation : generally Russian people go to churches of Russian tradition whatever the jurisdiction is... So the key element is owning the building...

I do not make any prediction : just an assumption...

Important in this also is that the canons say that the diocese should own the churches rather than the priest or the board, although this is sometimes waived through ekonomia of practical reasons of mortgages and such.

Well, if you were Russian or even a member in ROCOR, then I would consider your comments as an observation, but since you are neither and have made clear comments about your views against ROCOR, in other posts, then I would say...attend to the log in your eye.

It is not necessary to be a member of an organization to observe it, a member of a people to know him... I am fed up with all these posts like yours trying to implement a censure based on words like "bashing", "judging" etc... Soon it will be impossible to say anything for fear to be blamed for bashing, judging etc... It is politically correct dictatorship...

I just hope they make it impossible for the Russian Government to take ownership of these properties.

My aunt told me that the Russian government, under the auspice of the MP, recently went to Nice and claimed ownership of the russian orthodox church and cemetery (l'Eglise rue de Longchamp). It seems that the MP has held on to old ties to the government... I can't help but have an innate distrust for this relationship. Needless to say, I'm pretty uneasy about the whole situation. What are the implications of such a take-over, especially for my family that is buried in Nice? I pray that things turn out for the best.

I can't even speculate about what will happen with these properties but it feels like someone is trying to wake up a hibernating bear.

If that isnt phyletism, or even racism, than I dont know what is. Sad. I thought that Christ founded a Church and not a jurisdiction anyway? The question however is whether ROCOR-L remains in that Church He has purchased with His Blood, everyday it seems more and more that they have departed from His love. Their consciences like the incorrupt remains of St Philerat seem burried under concrete but still God and not sinful me knows what the future will bring or the hearts of men . It is later than we all think. All jurisdictions will fall eventually before the Antichrist, but the Church will endure unto the end of the age.

Theophan.
