Sermons By Fr. Vitaly Borovoy Published

Post by Kollyvas »

A book of sermons by Protopresbyter Vitaly Borovoy comes out

The collection of sermons by Prof. Protopresbyter Vitaly Borovoy, one of the oldest priests of the Russian Orthodox Church, includes sermons he read in the period from 1974 to 1976 at the Patriarchal Church of the Epiphany, the Church of the Dormition and some other churches.

At a time when the Church was forced to be silent, Father Vitaly was one of few who brought an open and continual witness to Christ while speaking on the most burning problems the Church faced in her life. This book can be described as a textbook on Christian life because it strengthens faith, gives hope and teaches charity.

Most of the sermons are published for the first time. The book has been published by the Minor Orthodox Brotherhood of St. Sergius on the occasion of the 90th birthday of this prominent theologian and preacher of our days.

PJ Receives Suspended Priest

Suspended cleric of the Russian Orthodox Church admitted to ‘the Archdiocese of Russian Western European Parishes’

The Exarchate of the Western European Orthodox Russian Parishes (Patriarchate of Constantinople) has officially reported that the Rev. Miron Bogutsky has been recently incorporated in the clergy of the Exarchate.

Miron Bogutsy, who was ordained as priest by Archbishop Juvenaly of Irkutsk and Chita in 1984, was suspended in 1993 by His Eminence Juvenaly when he was Archbishop of Kursk and Rylsk. He was suspended for the willful abandonment of the parish, systematic use of spirits and a fight with parishioners.

In this connection, Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations, sent a protest to the head of the Exarchate, Archbishop Gabriel of Comana, pointing out that it is admissible to grant admission to the clergy entrusted to his care to a former priest who he has not only failed to ask for a canonical letter of release but is also suspended.

Religious talks organized by the ministry and the clergy of the Donetsk diocese have become part of the professional training of the transport police, as they help law enforcement bodies not only to cope with considerable stresses accompanying their everyday work but also give answers to vital questions of life. The meeting was devoted to church sacraments.

Lieutenant Colonel S. Likhachev, deputy chief of the Ukrainian transport police, thanked Father Yevgeny on behalf of his staff and invited him to take part in the next meeting.

Kostroma Diocese Against Video Games

Kostroma Diocese against game machines

More victims of game machines turn to clergymen. People often have to sell their flats to pay their debts. A despaired person thrown a firebomb to the casino – his son played over everything that he had. Not long ago, the court of Galich convicted a man who killed several people for the money lost in the game club.

Archbishop Alexander of Kostroma and Galich decided to turn to the legislative authorities and demand to protect residents of Kostroma, especially children and teenagers, from dangerous passion for games. Clergymen of the Diocese of Kostroma and Galich will conduct a series of meetings at schools to discuss game problems. It is planned to publish and distribute special literature to help a person to give up his passion. A confidence line for the players and their relatives will work in the diocese.
