IMO, since they are by far the largest Orthodox body (at least AFAIK) they have the chance to step up to the plate and turn back the sorry events of 1924 in Istanbul.

I have always thought that the "Ecumenical Patriarchate" such as it is, should be transferred to the Moscow Patriarchate, as it was the Third Rome. (Of course, I'm being rather simplistic here.)

Well, one can hope, right?

When we talk of apostolic succession have we thought of the two parts of this Apostolical succession, ther is the Physical and the spiritual sides of apostollic succession..for instance the Latin church has Physical Apostolic succession, but has lacked the spiritual side for 1000 plus years.....
does the Mp lack the Physical only ? this is why MP needs
Rocor(MotherChurch), for this apostolic succession to once again come into exixtence in the Patriarch of moscow.........

Thinking there is apostolical succession only because the ordination was made by bishops whose origins can be traced to the Apostles is wrong and a catholic thinking. Thus the heretics (Arians, Monophysites, Catholics etc) bishops would have apostolical succession which is wrong because they lost it due to their heresy...

Now the MP could have back its Apsotolical succession from ROCOR if he repented, which is not occuring... So ROCOR will lose its apostolical succession due to its falling in the MP mistakes...
