Changing the icon of the home page

The resting place of threads that were very valid in 2004, but not so much in 2024. Basically this is a giant historical archive.

Changing the icon of the home page

Post by Jean-Serge »

I noticed Saint Euphrosynos' icon on the home page has been chaged for another one. I prefered the former. Why was it removed? The new one is less spiritual, more human I would say...

The new icon was commissioned by Deacon Nikolai of this site through the hand of Mother Anastasia. You can see others of her work at the thread regarding Family Icons. I like the new icon, but thats just my opinion. The reason (I think) for the change was because the old icon is still copyright of "Archbishop" Gregory of CO and I think Father Deacon would like something a bit "safer" seeing some of the past actions of Gregory regarding people he does not agree with and finding ways to fix this, I think is a good idea.

Oh no, I understand where you were coming from. It's just as matter of the fact that the info regarding the site icon is listed in the ABOUT US section of the site, and who reads that?! LOL. I just figured I would let people have an idea for the reasons (as far as I can assume) for the site change.

Juvenaly is correct. Some might call this icon more western than most of Mother Anastasia's Icons, and it is definitely a type I have never seen before, but I did comission the icon for this site, and after many month of painstaking, loving writing of the icon while she read about the saint and asked for his prayers, it is now completed. To see some of her other icons, see the "Family Icon" thread at http://euphrosynoscafe.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2488

I can respect opinions of people liking former-Archbishop Gregory's Greek style icons better than the new Russian icon that will be taking over, but I figured it is better to act before getting a cease-and-desist order (even though he did give me permission to use his icons years ago). :-)
