CHURCH NEWS/NOVEMBER 11 2005
Subdeacon Nathaniel Kapner Reporting

  • May 7 2005 - ABP HILARION (ROCOR/L) BANNED Protodeacon Basil
Yakimov of St. John the Forerunner Church, Australia from posting on
the Internet for one year. The good deacon was simply getting too
eloquent in his Anti MP/ROCOR Unification posts. So much for the
    Conciliar Consciousness of the Church.

  • November 1 2005 - ROAC ANASTASIA SCHATILOFF REPOSED in the Lord at
9:00 PM EST. Fr Andrei' Maklakov, the Administrator for the ROAC in
America, performed last rites and administered Holy Communion 6
    hours prior to Anastasia's repose.

  • November 3 2005 - A PRIVATE FUNEREAL SERVICE for Anastasia
Schatiloff took place in the house chapel of Protopresbyter Vladimir
Shishkoff's residence in Elmwood Park NJ with ROAC Fr Andrei
    Maklavkov officiating.

  • November 3 2005 - CALVERY CHRISTIAN HIGH school sued the
University of California accusing the University of discriminating
against the high school's students by not allowing certain courses
taught from a Christian viewpoint to fulfill admission
requirements. The courses are "Christianity's Influence on American
History," and "Christianity and Morality in American Literature."

  • November 11 2005 - A NEW IMMIGRANT TO THE Russian Federaton is in
permanent residence in his year 2000 quest to start a new life and
a new business in the capital city of Moscow. Alexander "Sasha"
Lebedeff is oft visited by his father who is a priest with the ROCOR
in California. Why Sasha moved to the Russian Federation is a
question many Orthodox Christians are now pondering.

  • November 11 2005 - METROPOLITAN VALENTIN OF ROAC IS doing well in
a hospital in Switzerland recuperating from an operation on his
foot. He recently said to his host, "I can't wait to get back to
work!" And neither can we dear Vladyka.

  • November 22, 2005 - FR SERAPHIM GAN THE SECRETARY of Metropolitan
Laurus and Protopriest Alexander Lebedeff are preparing for a trip
to Australia to meet with the clergy and parishioners of the ROCOR/L
Sydney, Australian and New-Zealand Diocese. The main topic of the
Meeting will be the vote on the MP/ROCOR UNIFICATION at the May 2006
SOBOR. The tally between those who are PRO MP and those who are ANTI
MP in the Australian/New Zealand Diocese is thus:

*80% of the clergy and parishioners are Anti MP.
*40% of the Anti MP folk will not countenance any discussion with
the MP.
*60% of the Anti MP are advocates of discussion with the MP but
strongly believe that now is not the time for unity.

  • November 2005 - THE SYNODAL DISCUSSIONS COMMITEE OF ROCOR/L will
meet later this month to formulate their decision with regard
to "Eucharistic Communion" with Patriarch Alexy II of the Russian
Orthodox Church. Word has it that the Discussions Comittee
wishes to "officialize" the concelebrations that ROCOR bishops have
been participating in during their trips to Russia. Bishop Michael
Donskoff, Abp Hilarion, and Abp Mark of Berlin have already
concelebrated with MP bishops on more than a few occasions.

  • October 2005 - A ROCOR BENEFACTOR MET with Abp Mark of Berlin in Europe
and asked him, "How does the Synod feel about the growing opposition to the
union?" "It does not matter what the clergy or the laity think," the Abp replied.
Continuing Abp Mark declared, "It will be the decision of the Bishops and the vote
    will be to unite!"

Sobornost'?!

Post by Kollyvas »

So much for the All-Russian Sobor which called for the participation of Bishops, WHITE CLERGY AND LAITY...Are they trying to show us how loyal they are to the legacy of St. Tikhon in how they behave?! No wonder they post silly things like "Let Us Make Room For God's Grace"...

Bravo Nathanael! I have often hoped that someone
with some penetrating insight into the current events
of of the OC Church should do something like this on
the Internet. Thank you! It fills a real void now that our
dear Anastasia Schatilof has gone on to the Lord, who
published her own very popular "Church News." Are you
going to make your "church news" a regular post?

Bravo???

Again, I'm baffled. From where have you gathered this "information". What are your sources?? Were you present for the supposed conversation with Archbishop Mark? Is it hearsay?

Who conducted this poll? What is the margin of error? Who was polled? What questions were asked? Were 1000 random ROCOR members selected and contacted by phone? Give me a break.

Ha A friend from church told me an "informal" poll showed 70% don't care one way or the other, 15% against, 10% for (MP/ROCOR). Not scientific, put perhaps, representitive. Then again, maybe not.
