Thank You, PJ-
The site you recommended to us looks good. Later I will examine it more in-depth to see if the tone is more wholesome and edifying there than it has been here of late. If so, I may recuse myself for a spell until this forum becomes more Orthodox and less Crankydox again.
In Christ,

Maybe that bitterness is what gives the zeal for the Faith, that zeal that many have lost... And the bitterness is caused to see the other ones fall in the Apostasy

Any bitterness that stems from a person's heart is not coming from God and no good comes from it. It is a distinctive indication of personal pride. God does not teach bitterness...He teaches love and spiritual peace in the midst of turmoil(but not compromise of faith)Everything can be overcome by instilling love, the love that God teaches us to feel for each other. This is what will overcome the satanic influences of bitterness. The lives of the saints should be enough of an example to help us understand how we should approach each other. But, many people here, don't seem to understand that. They are too overwhelmed by their pride and feel hurt or offended and they cannot bring themselves to realize that they should try to keep themselves from getting overwhelmed by these feelings. This IS NOT what CHRIST wants us to feel.

"ARCHBISHOP MARK & THE KGB"

Post by Nathaniel Kapner »

Subject: "ARCHBISHOP MARK & THE KGB"

By former KGB agent Konstantin Preobrazhensky. The following is one
of many Articles published by the Author with regard to the pending
ROCOR/MP Union. The author now resides in Washington D.C. and is a
member of the ROCOR Cathedral Church in Washington D.C.

ROCOR ARCHBISHOP MARK & THE KGB

Mark (Arndt) Archbishop of Germany and Great Britain, is the key
figure in joining ROCOR to the Moscow Patriarchy. "But why?" many
ask.

"Is he under orders to do it?" Or is it his "volunteer social
obligation?" as they used to say in Soviet times. There is no
immediate answer to this question, as is the case with many other
glaring suspicious aspects in Abp Mark's biography. However, we do
have a few "clues" to pursue. And that is all a good investigator
needs.

For example, how did young Mark Arndt manage to move to the West
from Communist East Germany? Or, why did the KGB release him
unharmed and in no apparent danger? His biography resembles
that of Soviet Patriarch Pimen, from which the most interesting
episodes were also erased.

THE KGB ARRESTS MARK AND RELEASES HIM

In 1979 Archbishop Mark was arrested at the Leningrad Airport for
smuggling anti-Soviet literature while entering the USSR. Nobody
knows the date. What we do know is that Mark was released after his
arrest apart from any punitive measures. Very unusual.

At that time Archbishop Mark was an activist of the People’s Labor
Union …quot; a White Guard organization, which had been energetic in the
old days, but later it became gorged with KGB agents.

Some Russian emigrants now ask:

"What if the KGB had simply frightened Archbishop Mark and then
released him with forgiveness?" As a retired Lieutenant Colonel of
the KGB, I reply: "It could not be so."

"Because Article #70 of the "Criminal Code" of Soviet Russia
qualified smuggling of anti-Soviet literature as "Anti-Soviet
Agitation and Propaganda," It was considered a State crime of
immediate danger and guaranteed a long term in a Soviet prison.

If the KGB officers had released Mark, what would they report back
to their leadership? That they had allowed an anti-Soviet
propagandist to escape punishment? What would be a concrete "result"
of their work, which is so highly valued by the KGB? A release?
That is not a "result!"

Moreover, nobody would allow releasing Mark. Because every foreigner
caught by the KGB legally or illegally, was regarded as a "tasty fat
chicken." Mark Arndt could have been exchanged for an arrested
Soviet spy, or utilized in the Communist propaganda.

This all was considered a great success and promised a lot of
decorations for the KGB officers involved. But nobody would be
decorated if the foreigner was released. Because the KGB was a
military institution, its officers coordinated every step with
a chain of "Department" chiefs.

The KGB officers could have released Mark, but only in exchange
for a higher decoration. It was a "given" that for a recruitment of
a foreigner, the highest success was attained in KGB work.

In the KGB school in Minsk they taught us how to recruit foreigners
captured by the KGB. It was easy to swindle a naive westerner. A
"kind" and "evil" investigator were used for it.

An "evil" investigator said thus:

"Did you read how Alexander Solzhenitsyn described Stalin’s prison
camps in his book "GULAG Archipelago"? But they remain unchanged
till now! We shall put you there for seven years and order out
collaborators among prisoners to rape you every day. You will die in
two months!"

After that, a "kind" investigator joined the conversation. He said
the following:

"Oh, please, don’t frighten our friend! Because he will cooperate
with us, won't he?"

A frightened foreigner, who had never suffered such a mistreatment
before, nodded his head with the feeling of doom. And the "kind"
investigator immediately handed him a sheet of paper, saying in a
stern voice:

"Please write a note of obligation of cooperation with the KGB!"

Now the smuggler of anti-Soviet literature is in life-long danger of
arrest, or something even worse by the KGB, as well as the danger of
being "caught" by the "Counter-Intelligence" of their home countries.

In order to revive the atmosphere of those years, I called to
Moscow, to Sergei Grigiryantz, a famous human rights activist. In
Soviet times he spent 9 years in prison, being accused on the basis
of article #70: "The Anti-Soviet Propagandist." And, by the way, KGB
didn’t release him, as it did with Archbishop Mark. Moreover, the
FSB, inheritor of the KGB, hates Sergei Grigoryantz from the bottom
of its heart untill this day.

At the end of the 1980s, on the wave of Gorbachev’s "perestroika, "
Sergei Grigoryantz managed to found the human rights foundation
GLASNOT. ("The Freedom of Speech.") Its goal was for the debunking
of the KGB.

"Glasnost" ran a lot of International Congresses, called "KGB:
Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow." Its speakers from Russia and abroad
reported about horrible crimes, committed by the KGB during the
Communist period. I spoke at these Congresses many times. The FSB
gritted its teeth with anger, but could not do anything thanks to
democracy and freedom of speech in Russia. It lasted for about ten
years, not more, but even in this short period of democracy the
inheritors of the KGB killed the son of Sergei Grigiryantz. Later
they cynically informed him unofficially, that it was they who
murdered his son.

But as soon as President Putin came to power, the FSB understood
that its hands became unwrapped. They began destroying "Glasnost."
In the end of 2003, in the atmosphere of opened provocations, it
managed to run its last Congress called,"The Role of Security
Services in Ruling Russia." After that its activity was paralyzed
owing to FSB intimidation. Sergei Grigoryantz told me the following:

"If the KGB found some anti-Soviet literature in the luggage of
foreigners entering the Soviet Union in the 1970s, it accused them
of "Anti-Soviet Propagandizing." The KGB managed the investigation
also. If it was forced to release some foreigners due to political
reasons, it did it in a form of scandal. The foreigners were
expelled from the USSR and were forbidden to come there any more.
The fact that the KGB was so "humane" with Mark means that some
amicable agreement must have been concluded between them."

Recently I received Publication #2741 of the Russian emigrant’s
newspaper "Nasha Strana" ("Our Land"), where my article "Unequal
Marriage" was also published. In the same issue I read Nicholas
Kazantsev’s article "The Role Of Solidarists In Capitulation". The
following abstract staggered me as a former KGB officer:

"The NKVD introduced its agents into the People’s Labor Union with
various methods. One was a recruitment of those visiting the USSR
and arrested there."

It draws attention to one important detail in the biography of
Archbishop Mark of Berlin, who is trying now, with fanatic
obsession, to submit ROCOR to the Moscow Patriarchy, headed by
KGB agents. In his younger years, Mr. Arndt was a rather active
solidarist and, still being a layman, went to the USSR with the
anti Soviet literature, issued by the People’s Labor Union. He was
arrested there. And though his mates were released after a few hours
of interrogation, Mark was kept there much longer.

I think that if the members of the Synod under Metropolitan
Philaret were aware of this extremely suspicious episode, Mark would
have never become a bishop of ROCOR.

It is unbelievable. It means that Archbishop Mark concealed from
his Church leadership, that he had been arrested by the Soviet
Counter Intelligence, in spite of the great importance of this fact.

But it is so strange! The release of Archbishop Mark from the KGB
arrest meant that there was no accusation against him. But Abp Mark,
instead of being indignant, as would be expected regarding his
illegal arrest, kept silent. By this he was playing up to the
KGB according to the "game plan" thus confirming the suspicion of
some amicable agreement betweem Abp Mark & The KGB.

IF THIS WAS NOT A CLEAR SIGN OF RECRUITMENT - WHAT WAS IT?

To be continued...

Uncle Milty - "Velcome ROCOR Abp Mark of Berlin to the "Uncle Milty

Abp Mark - "It is my strict and precise pleasure to be here today at

Uncle Milty - "Oh for sure..I guess I go more by "Jewish time."

Abp Mark - "That is a manifestly and unmistakable humorous statement

Uncle Milty - "Oh I just love it when somebody laughs at my jokes!
It makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside. Anywhooo - let's get down
to business."

Abp Mark - "Precisely."

Uncle Milty - "Your Herrship I mean Your Eminence, there are many
rumours that you are a KGB agent. Nu?"

Abp Mark - "I do not deal in rumours. Facts are what I am all about.
I deal in cold hard facts. I am a monk of the Orthodox Christian
persuasion that is denomination. Secondly, I am a prelate of the
same Orthodox Christain persuasion and denomination. And my dear sir
Mr. Uncle Milty, if we are to continue with this interview, I expect
to be treated with the honour and respect that my Departmental
Office is deserving of."

Uncle Milty - "Gee - I never thought of it that way..anywhoo there
are rumours going around town that you carry a gun."

Abp Mark - "This is not according to cold hard facts. I do not carry
a gun."

Uncle Mitly - "Well I didn't believe this rumour myself to tell you
the truth. However many say out there in Television Land that there
are probably at least 1000 guns guns behind you! But let's move on
to my last question."

Uncle Milty - "What in your opinion and in your own words is the
reason why you are pushing this union between the ROCOR and the MP?"

Abp Mark - "The ROCOR/MP UNION is only one of the many items on the
agenda of the FS that is to say the ROCOR Synod of Bishops of which
I am a card carrying member of. Once the vote is cast in favor of
the Union the next item on their ag I mean our memorandum that is to
say our Synodal schedule is to ordain many new bishops and priests
who are highly trained I mean highly qualified for these departmental offices."

Uncle Milty - "Well I'll be a suckering catfish as we used to say
back in the good ol' days. But times have changed dear Television
Viewers and Metropolitan Philaret is now turning in his grave.

Mark of Berlin is also of "Jewish extraction"

Post by Nathaniel Kapner »

Dear pjhatali,

Yes it is true - I am of "Jewish extraction: and I am not competent to understand the "Russian mind."

However ROCOR Professor Eugene Magerosvsky and EX KGB Konstantine Proebrazhensky also of ROCOR are. And they are the ones I conducted the interview with above.

I get all of my information from these two men and many other "White Russians" who are co-members with me of the Society at : www.metanthonymemorial.com ["Fidelity" /Metropolitan Anthony Memorial Society]

It is through these that I have recently learned that ROCOR Abp Mark of Berlin who is at the lead in bringing the other bishops into union with the MP is a JEW.

His parents were violinists in East Germany a typical "Jewish profession" in the early 1900's and still is today except for the orientals who since the late 20th century joined the Jews in this profession.

Much more will soon be coming out on Mark of Berlin and it will not look good for him at all - no, not at all.

Oh Brother, lets see here for one second. Hmmm Archbishop Mark is ordained under the Holy Apostolic succession and you, lets see, you, leave multiple Jurisdictions either by your choice or not. Ya, I think we would all agree, you have the qualifications to bring any kind of scandalize commentary on this man who holds the Holy Priesthood of God. Please, my good friend, might want to read up on the basics or maybe quite those voices in your head.
