Please sign--Petition For Agia Sophia

Post by Kollyvas »

If we collect 1,000,000 signatures there is a strong possibility
that the
European Union would require Turkey to restore to its original
status the
Saint Sophia Church in Istanbul which has been used as a
mosque for the
last almost 500 years. Whether you are a Greek or not we have
a duty to
restore history even after so many years.

I kindly ask you to forward this to any of your contacts you feel
would be
interested to contribute to this just cause. Thanking you in
advance for
your time 1,000,000 SIGNATURES ARE REQUIRED - LET US
DO IT

As the Turk Bartholomew tries to wrestle control of Esphigmenou I am suposed to sign for him to get an ancient Orthodox church, of which he has no relation in faith too, back?

Let the power monger and luster of territories built a new one himself.

Done!

(link to my blog and scroll near bottom to see info I wrote about the Hagia Sophia back on December 23, 2004)

Whatever your view of Patriarch Bartholomew is, he too shall pass, and a new Patriarch shall replace him. The Hagia Sophia will remain.

I encourage all to sign the petition in order to give back to the Eastern Orthodox Faithful the Hagia Sophia.

Of course, those minarets will have to come down as well! :D

Your fellow struggler in Christ,

Rd. Chrysostomos

Amen-
Hagia Sophia has been in the hands of heretical patriarchs before. And the Church has outlasted their tenures before. If there is a chance at all of getting this temple back and seeing the Divine Liturgy celebrated there again let's do it.
In Christ,
Rd. David

I say cast massive bells for the minarets and put gilt Byzantine crosses over them, Russian style, with cross over crescent...

A simple molieben should be enough to discourage any terrorist attacks...........
Honestly, I believe that the Orthodox only lost the Orthodox Christian empire in both Constantinople and in Russia because of our sins. And it will only be restored if we sufficiently repent. As it was in the days of the Jews and the Babylonian Captivity so it is with us. If the Lord tarries long enough there is no reason to suppose that we cannot win the "world" (and its governance) again as we we have already once before.
Nothing looks more impossible than this does to us now but were we to place ourselves in the sandals of a second-century Christian would we have felt any differently? One such Christian might have said to another, "Wouldn't it be great if the Emperor were Orthodox?" And the second might have replied," Look, we need to be realistic- that just
ain't going to happen." And a century later- enter St. Constantine the Great. If God grants us mercy, it could happen again.
So don't write off ny chance to reclaim Hagia Sophia so quickly...............
In Christ,
Rd. David
