Dear Deacon Nikolai,

It is not possible, and in no way is it provided in the Church Canons, for a fellow-bishop, or Metropolitan, to "retire" another bishop.

My understanding is that Abp Gregory was never "excommunicated" by the ROAC Synod, but rather, "no longer in communion" with the ROAC (V) There is a difference in that the latter, it seems to me, is more severe.

Please clarify the Official ROAC determinations against Abp Gregory if you can.

Dear Cafe' Members,

I wish to inform you that Abp Gregory is planning a trip to Greece this October to have his priest-monk, Fr. George ordained to the Episcopal office. Tickets have already been purchased.

Yeah. I think I read about this in the current issues of "Who Cares?" magazine.

The synod suspended/retired him after he refused thrice to come to spiritual court. Then they excommunicated him (which in this case I meant the term as in removed him from their communion). However the canons require that a suspended clergyman must be unsuspended by the same synod thet suspended him in order to ever serve the mysteries again.

Alright, dear Deacon Nikolai, we're getting closer.
You say that the ROAC Synod "suspended/retired gregory because he refused to appear before the Synod when requested 3 times.
gregory's position was that HE was the first to make charges against Met V and Canon 6 of the Second Ecumenical Council forbids counter charges until the first-accused is acquitted.
What then were the charges that were brought against gregory, and were they before his charges against Met V for taking away his schema-monk Fr. Andrei?

From what I understand, the synod found Gregory's accusations ludicrous and had hoped to hear his justifications, but of course he never appeared to the synod when called.

BTW I found a picture from when you were tonsured a Reader by then-Bishop Gregory on Anti-Pascha, 1994 in Metropolitan Valentine's presence: http://www.livejournal.com/users/nstanosheck/4577.html

Bishop Gregory had turned Father Andrei over to the synod so that he could become a bishop. When this was actually acted upon and he was moved to New York to see how he could administer things, Bishop Gregory got extremely angry as he wanted him to be a puppet bishop under his control, living at Dormition Skete, just as he wanted and still desires for Father George. (he admitted this is what he wanted when I came with Fathers Andrei and Dionysi to get his things for his next job)
