"droga"

Hello again,

I enjoy listening to the Divine Liturgy in Slavonic, even though I can only pick out a few words here and there. Several times the priest ends a sentence with a word that sounds like "droga," said emphatically. Anybody have any idea what this word means? It could be the end of a longer word. I've been all over the Slavonic Tutor-type web sites but can't find it.

Perhaps you are hearing "drug-druga", meaning one another, or each other, as when a priest says, "... drug druga Khristu Bogu predadim.", from the Liturgy, "Let us commit ourselves and one another to Christ our God.

Mother Ephrosyne, are you an abbess of an Orthodox Monastery in France? If so, is it the Lesna Convent of which Saint John Maximovitch affiliated himself a lot with?

No, I'm the Abbess' secretary. Yes, our monastery is the one that St. John of Shanghai was affiliated with. He often stayed at Lesna, helped guide the sisters, tonsured them, and still helps and guides us by his holy prayers.
