Well it seems that my question about commemorating non Orthodox dead in the Liturgy has been answered. No I can not. However I do know that we can light candles for non Orthodox in Church.
This is very different than what I have been taught as a protestant. Heaven and Hell and the people that will go to one or the other is firm and complete at death. That there is no reason to pray for the dead for our prayers will do nothing to help them. But now I see not only prayers but alms giving, works of righteousness, and Liturgies all done for the reposed is of help to them. This is indeed a show of our love for that person.
From this chapter I envision, so to speak, that let us say one of my protestant departed because of my prayers, as unworthy as they are, when they are shown the torments of Hell and the joys of Heaven are filled with grief and sorrow for their sins that they were unaware of or paid little attention to, then is Saved. All the particulars are rather … individual …. To that particular person.
