Just thought I'd share something with the group. I was reading the Scriptures the other day, and was really struck by these verses... I don't have the verse numbers handy right now, but they're easy to find if you want to check them out.
"Verily, verily I say unto you, if any man hear my word, and believe on Him Who sent me, he hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from death to life."
That REALLY struck me, for a few reasons. First, because of the Trinitarian nature of it, in which "my word" (the Word of God), and "Him Who sent me" (the Father), and the notion of "everlasting life" (as the Spirit is called the Giver of Life) are so intimately linked. It seemed beautiful to me.
Secondly, though, I was made very pensive by the notion that the Savior was telling me I had (if I truly heard His word and believed in God) "passed from death to life."
Hmmm... I sort of thought... if I have DONE that, than what is all this STUFF??? You know... not even the bad stuff... just this endless flow into corruption, like: raising kids; indulging in bad habits; fatigue; basically, things that END.
Then I thought (and this gave me more hope): well, maybe I HAVE "passed from death to life," and I should trust in that, and maybe pay a little more attention to the lively things God presents.
Anyway, I hope some of you might have a recreating little peek at that verse, as I did. I memorized it even, something I don't often do.
