Holy Saturday in the OCA

Post by joasia »

CHRIST IS RISEN!

This is a simple question. A friend of mine told me that the service in her church ended at 11 pm, Saturday night and then resumed Sunday morning. Is this the practice for Pascha in all OCA churches?

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Ps. 50)

No, it is not. The OCA parish in Edmonton has a midnight service.

No, but this is the traditional practice of the Carpatho Rusyn Orthodox and Greek Catholics and is leftover in some OCA parishes. There's absolutely nothing unOrthodox about it; it's simply the way things used to be done in all Orthodox churches but which never changed in the remote regions the Carpatho Rusyns inhabit.

Yes this is not unorthodox. In my Serbian parish in Paris, the Divine liturgy took place on the morning at 10...

Priidite, poklonimsja i pripadem ko Hristu.
