Mormons Abusing Memory of Deceased Russians

The resting place of threads that were very valid in 2004, but not so much in 2024. Basically this is a giant historical archive.

Mormons Abusing Memory of Deceased Russians — Religious Council

MosNews

The Russian Inter-Religious Council has described as “deliberate abuse” the Mormon practice of enrolling deceased people in their organization. Russia is also subject to the practice, and it’s a pity there is no law to stop Mormons from doing it, Roman Silantyev, spokesman for the Council, told Interfax Tuesday.

“Followers of the U.S. Mormon sect have for several decades been known to collect information about the deceased of all confessions and then convert them to Mormonism by means of a magic ritual they call baptizing,” he said.

“All the traditional religions reject the practice and see it as a deliberate abuse of the memory of the deceased,” he added.

Last week the media reported that U.S. Mormons also “converted” the victims of the Holocaust, whose names they found published in the Holocaust Memory Book. The sources also said “convertions” took place in Russia, too.

“In Russia Mormons usually buy birth registers from local archives,” Silantiev said. “Local archives cooperate willingly because of financial strains,” he added.

The spokesman for the Russian Inter-Religious Council expressed concern that the there was no legislation to prohibit the Mormon practice. He called on people working with archives to be attentive and not to “sell dead souls” to “visiting swindlers”, Interfax reports.

I don't understand why people get upset about this? Faith REQUIRES a PERSONAL confession!

Just because someone says I am a Muslim does not make it so.

They say that I am bad news. They say "Stay Away."

Have I had too much vodka, or does this actually say that they have converted people who have already died? I know that satan can have some influences on the living, but to do "magic ritual" on the deceased??

Here is an LDS page on the practice of "Baptism for the Dead":

This is the reason that for genealogy research the Mormons are a major resource. They have been researching for names to "baptise".

Yes it's true. I lived in Mesa, Arizona before and it is the highest concentration of Mormons outside of Salt Lake. They have so many weird things that they do, I couldn't even list them all. When we lived in AZ and they would come on their bikes to preach they always ask if you need any help with anything. (Like, if your mowing the lawn, they'll stop and help you.) So one time my mom, cigarette in one hand and beer in the other said "sure" and made them unload a whole truck bed full of river rock. Here are these two, geeky, blond boys in dress slacks and dress shirts carrying these boulders across our lawn in 110 degree weather. Then after about an hour when they finished, they offered my mom the book of Mormon and tried to schedule an appointment she just said no.

As crazy as they are, they do do some good things. Sundays people go to church, no matter what-no sports, work or any excuses to get out of it. Then that whole day is like "consecrated" to God. The kids can't go out with their friends to play when they get home or anything. Then one day a week, usually Wednesday, is family night. That night same thing, both parents and all kids are at home, they do crafts, watch movies, or play games- TOGETHER. They also are usually very modest and have big families, and rarely do they divorce. They are incredibly obedient (brainwashed). Every neighborhood has it's own stake, so where you live dictates where you go church. There are so many of them that they go to church in shifts, and they don't even get to pick which shift they get-when the church designates your family to go, that's when you go. I had a friend whose dad was a VERY successful lawyer; long story short, one day the "elders" (of the church) tell him he gets "the calling" to be the new bishop. He quit his career and everything and did what the elders told him.

As far as them baptizing dead people-it's not suprising. I know that at a certain point families get "sealed". In the temple they have a ritual performed ensuring they will be united in heaven. And oh yeah, there are different heavens according to degrees of goodness, like "celestial" and "trilestial". The highest one you becomes as Gods. Of course the Mormons are baptizing dead Russians now. About six or years back some Russian mafiosos kidnapped som of their missonaries for ransom and ended up doing them in. I'm sure after that they've cut down the number of boys they send over there on their "missions". :ohvey:

And oh yeah, I forgot to mention they're going to hell anyway. So this sick practice will surely ony multiply their torments.

CHRIST IS RISEN!

I don't doubt that they are doing this. But, it is a futile function. Actually, it's pretty ridiculous. They have no more effect over the dead than a rock. They can do it to whomever. It won't change a thing, except for those who are living and believe in these stupidities.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Ps. 50)
