Angel: ... He who carries the cross patiently not only resembles the Lord but the Lord Himself is even suffering in him by being united with him; for by uniting believers with Himself, He is taking unto Himself all that is happening with each of them. That is why He said to Saul who at one time persecuted the Church: Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? (Acts 9:4) And He will say on the Last Day of Judgement to the merciless: Verily I say to you, insofar as ye did it not to one of the least of these, neither did ye do it to Me (Matt. 25:45). ...
As I am identifying myself to Christ in my carrying of the cross, so Christ idetifyes Himself to me in my sufferings? Wow. Lord have mercy on me.
