I saw an interview today, on CNN, that was talking about the three main issues that the next pope would have to address: acceptance of homosexuals, women clergy and the pill. Someone commented that the catholic church needs to catch up to the times.
As a side track, does anybody know the name of the Bishop of Rome, during St. Peter's time? I remember reading about the fact that St. Peter went to visit the bishop when he was brought to Rome, but I can't remember the name.
The whole reason Orthodoxy has preserved the fullest of the Church is because of the Holy spirit and the approval of GOD and all those that have been Martyred and those that signed themselves in secrecy amongst themselves.someone said that it upset her that Orthodoxy wasnt mentioned,Who cares thats why we are preserved because we lost sight of what Rome and its Bishops have always wanted-To be on Top of all,that my friends would be completely egotistical to say "Catholics this,Catholics that,what about orthodox it was around 2000 years ago too. yes and we were 1 church too.and under GODs eyes we still are 1 church".lets not participate,but prepare ourselves for somthing in the line of great terror that we will now see,For not everyone is catholic, The majority are beleivers of Islam,Jewish beliefs,scientologists,athiests,buddhists,Hindus ..
and on the Dark side you have Thelema ,santaria,Voodoo,Black Magik, The OTO,and then our very distant brothers The Protestants,,
yes they are the ones that do all the fighting for Christianity,you
may have noticed them on the corner or in the T.V. set always with a bible in there hand as if it were a sword of defense
condeming everyone to Hell for there Sins of abortion,the death penalty,
adultry,idolatry,murder,sexual child abuse,etc.where would this world be without the protestant`s line of defense.never under estimate the Power of God,for he Helps and Powers all who call upon him and serve him till death....(hardly ever see a Catholic or Orthodox fighting in public for these christian values that our holy martyrs died for)
-all these people I have just mentioned (aside from catholics and True Orthodox)are millions,and millions of
people who have been disgusted by these series of events leading to one harmless and pious man dedicated to serving GOD,thru this viewing of his Holy-ness PJP2 body lieing in state and
the Catholic church somehow have dis-espected all of them and have set the Ball rolling..a time of Mourning will be allowed,yes.for even evil likes to rest in preparation for a great fight..the evil one wants this to happen,we will see nations against nations and christians against christians..my dear friends after the burial of this Great Bishop,we will all see the Growth of a series of ANTI-Christian heretics and martyrers take over the World,these events will be as you would not imagine,we might have to start signing ourselves as the first christians did with their tongues and eyes(so no one will know we are christians and not an act of cowardness but an act to preserve the christian population)
and then we will be remembered as Orthodoxy !and for the thousandth time the Evil one and his followers will come at us all,this time with all its strength for even they know there time is near for eternal damnation........why will they even seek us out of the Catholics?because reguardless of how many left turns the Catholic heir-archs take,The lower end of all the worlds
Pious Catholics are just like you and me.then all our enemies will say oh yeah the Orthodox are even more to blame they preserved the whole thing....WHEN WILL WE REMEBER THAT OUR SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST`s MESSAGE WAS OF LOVE,not condemnation,for God alone is the only condemner and that time is near.

Some Protestants have drowned me in their belief that the end of the world when Christ is near will be upon completion of the new hidden interstates of roads being built for some time now in Rome,But I now wonder if what they meant was NEW interstate of the Church Leadership of Rome.........hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I turned on the TV this morning for my daily dose of news and caught the tail end of the pope's funeral. As an Orthodox Christian, I have to say I was unsettled at seeing so many clerics dressed in Eastern Orthodox vestments and let's not forget the monastics in Orthodox style robes. I became irritated when I realized that the clerics began singing "Espola" to John Paul, but I must say that I really became disgusted when I realized that the were singing Christ is Risen in Greek. Of course the commentator's comments about Orthodoxy only added fuel to the fire. A trully disappointing showing. Not that I really expected anything else.
Anybody know which "Patriarch" it was that read the prayer for the dead?

Those were the Eastern Catholic Hierarchs who articipated in the funeral service and who were wearing Orthodox vestments and mitres, not the Orthodox Hierarchs who remained in the audience.
The Orthodox were not vested but were wearing black riasas.

I was confused by your commentary. Are you supporting Orthodoxy or are you supporting paganism.
I guess St. Mark of Ephesus' refusal to sign with the pope of Rome was a useless stance, in your eyes, if you consider this pope to be a "Great Bishop"?
I don't see where the pope would have a place, next to St. Mark. The pope will have to answer for his heretical stance against God. He is passing through his 40 days of judgement, now. He died in heresy.
What he did for the world, is praised by the world and stays behind in memory. God wants his repentent heart, not his worldly accomplishments. And his repentence would have meant that he would have had to admit that he has fallen into heresy and that the Orthodox tradition passed down from Christ, to the Apostles and to the holy fathers is the true path that God wants us to walk in faith.
Don't you believe in wolves in sheep's clothing? Don't be fooled by outward appearances. It's actions that count. And this pope has made very pathetic actions.
He even went into a synagogue and heard the prayers of the rabbis!! We as Orthodox laymen are FORBIDDEN to go into a synagogue...how much more, will the pope be judged by God for that and the plethora of other ecumenical functions?
In Christ, a former catholic who was brought to the truth of Orthodox and has blown at the satan, 3 times to the East. I have rejected all my beliefs of the papist dogmas. They are empty husks.

I believe it was who the Patriarch Gregory of the Melikites (Eastern Catholics)who was reading the Prayer of the dead. He was chanting in
Greek and Arabic. Also the the Patriarch of the Maronites was chanting also.

It is pretty generally accepted that St. Peter himself was the first Bishop of Rome. St. Linus was his immediate successor.
