Acts of the Apostles - Saul/St. Paul

Post by Loser »

Hello and how are you all going?
I am an orthodox youth and am studying the experiences of apostles...
Pertaining to the: Acts of the Apostles - Saul/ St. Paul, after Saul is converted to Christianity, are there any other experiences he endures that modify his beliefs... Is it a complete one eighty turn around of beliefs or are his beliefs grudually altered?

Thanks a lot for your forthcoming assistance.

I don't believe that it was a complete 180 degree turn right away, because the Lord appears to His disciple Ananias (Acts 9:10) and tells him to go administer to Saul. In verse 9:19 :"Then was Saul certain days with the disciples in Damascus.."

I agree with Tom.

I don't have my Bible with me, but, as I recall, St. Paul spent quite some time learning before setting out on his missionary journeys.

Thanks for the responses. Its says in the Acts, that Ananias layed his hands on Saul and through him God gave Saul his vision and filled him with the Holy Spirit. Then it states: "For several days he was with the disciples in Damascus, and immediately began to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues, saying 'He is the Son of God'."

The Acts, I believe, don't mention how he become well-versed in Christian beliefs/ideals. Did the Holy Spirit render him knowledgeable about Christianity? And also do you believe that the persecution that Saul faced changed his interpretation of his beliefs...For instance, through persecution did he realize that suffering is the only way to the Lord or did he just realize this when he was bestowed with the Holy Spirit...

Thankyou for your interest and i should look forward to your replies.

I did some research, and i was reading The letter of Paul to the GALATIANS, Ch1- 11: 24, and Paul explains in this letter that the revelation of Jesus Christ was not from a human origins, and he gained this insight or beliefs from the Holy Spirit of Christ...

Am I misinterpreting the text?
