The whole idea is to baptise.....the sooner the better.

In most Russian tradition, we baptise on the 40th day...mostly because the mothers want to be there and it also takes care of the Churching issue. However it can also be done sooner, I was once Godmother at a baptism where the mother was not present.., it was done somewhere around twenty days.

But really the "rule of thumb" is that as soon as the baby is strong enough you should baptise it. And if it's not strong enough, baptise even sooner.

Congratulations on the birth of your child. Have you set a date for the Baptism yet?

My nouna told me about a child who was born gravely ill. Only a few days old, the child was dipped into the Holy Waters of Baptism but the water was cold as it was winter time. The Newly Baptized child of God gave a loud scream and was okay after that. Before the child's baptism it wasn't crying normally, so everyone present said that it was a miracle.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

Thank you!

Not an exact date - but very soon after the 40 days are over. Probably late May because his Godparents will be out of town until that time.
